Myoelectric control has emerged as a promising approach for a wide range of applications, including controlling limb prosthetics, teleoperating robots and enabling immersive interactions in the Metaverse. However, the accuracy and robustness of myoelectric control systems are often affected by various factors, including muscle fatigue, perspiration, drifts in electrode positions and changes in arm position. The latter has received less attention despite its significant impact on signal quality and decoding accuracy.

A limited qualitative literature explores children's lived experiences of violence; boys' relationships with perpetrator fathers remain largely unexplored. Drawing on interviews with 31 boys, this paper explores the accounts of their relationships with their perpetrator fathers, focusing particularly on the implications of boys' understanding of these relationships for their sense of burgeoning masculinity. Three themes are considered: in (a) relational ambiguity; (b) performing masculinities, managing violence; and (c) envisioning alternative futures and re-visioning the past.

CO-driven ion exchange for ammonium recovery from source-separated urine.

Water Res

January 2025

Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute (GTSI), Tianjin University, Shenzhen 518067, China. Electronic address:

Nitrogen recovery from urine and CO utilization are both vital for achieving a circular economy and mitigating climate change. Divided engineering solutions have been proposed to address either problem, but there is still a lack of integrated technologies to simultaneously tackle the two tasks. We demonstrated CO-driven ion exchange for nitrogen recovery (CIXNR) from urine and evaluated the process in Malawi.

Background And Objective: Patients with thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection (TAAD) are often asymptomatic but present acutely with life threatening complications that necessitate emergency intervention. Aortic diameter measurement using computed tomography (CT) is considered the gold standard for diagnosis, surgical planning, and monitoring. However, manual measurement can create challenges in clinical workflows due to its time-consuming, labour-intensive nature and susceptibility to human error.

Remote epitaxial crystalline perovskites for ultrahigh-resolution micro-LED displays.

Nat Nanotechnol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Bio-inspired Materials and Interfacial Science, Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

The miniaturization of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) is pivotal in ultrahigh-resolution displays. Metal-halide perovskites promise efficient light emission, long-range carrier transport and scalable manufacturing for bright microscale LED (micro-LED) displays. However, thin-film perovskites with inhomogeneous spatial distribution of light emission and unstable surface under lithography are incompatible with the micro-LED devices.
