Lipomas are benign soft tissue tumors composed of mature adipocytes, commonly found in subcutaneous tissues. Despite their prevalence in various body regions, they are relatively rare in the oral and maxillofacial regions. This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imaging characteristics, as well as the treatment outcomes of 57 patients diagnosed with lipoma.

A teenage girl who had recently begun playing saxophone presented with recurrent painless right cheek swelling for six months. Despite several courses of antibiotics, the swelling continued to re-occur. On examination, enlargement of the right parotid gland and crepitus over the same region are noted, with no signs of acute inflammation.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD), which was first reported by Rosai and Dorfman in 1969, is a rare, benign, non-neoplastic proliferation of histiocytes, characterized by painless lymphadenopathy and fever. Lymphadenopathy occurs most commonly in the neck, but also appears in non-cervical lymph nodes or as extranodal lesions. In this case, biopsy of an atypical subcutaneous buccal mass, which was difficult to diagnose preoperatively, led to a diagnosis of RDD.
