Despite decades of studies, a clear understanding of near- phenomena remains challenging for glass-forming systems. This review delves into the intricate molecular dynamics of the small, heterocyclic thioether, 6-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodithiine (MeBzS), with a particular focus on its near- cold crystallization and relaxation mechanisms. Investigating isothermal crystallization kinetics at various temperatures reveals a significant interplay between its molecular dynamics and recrystallization from a supercooled liquid. We also identify two independent interconversion paths between energetically privileged conformers, characterized by strained transition states. We demonstrate that these spatial transformations induce substantial alterations in the dipole moment orientation and magnitude. Our investigation also extends to the complex salt PdCl(MeBzS), where we observe the transient conformers directly, revealing a direct relationship between their abundance and the local or macroscopic electric field. The initially energetically privileged isomers in an undisturbed system become less favored in the presence of an external electric field or ions, resulting even in an unexpected inversion of states. Consequently, we confirm the intramolecular character of secondary relaxation in MeBzS and its mechanism related to conformational changes within the heterocyclic ring. The research is based on the combination of broadband dielectric spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and quantum density functional theory calculations.

Gentisic acid (GA), a cytochrome P450 metabolite of the antiplatelet drug aspirin, exhibits smooth muscle relaxant, antiatherogenic, and antioxidant activities. It also has a protective role in hypertrophic heart failure, suggesting its role in the management of myocardial infarction (MI). This study aimed to explore the protective activity of GA in isoproterenol (ISO)-induced MI in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats in-vivo, followed by mechanistic investigation ex-vivo.

Resting state networks (RSNs) of the brain are characterized as correlated spontaneous time-varying fluctuations in the absence of goal-directed tasks. These networks can be local or large-scale spanning the brain. The study of the spatiotemporal properties of such networks has helped understand the brain's fundamental functional organization under healthy and diseased states.

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) exhibits excellent shape memory properties but suffers from brittleness and a high glass transition temperature (T), limiting its utility in flexible and durable applications. This study explored the modification of PLA properties through the incorporation of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), varying in both content (5-20 wt%) and molecular weight (4000-12,000 g/mol), to enhance its suitability for specific applications, such as medical splints. The PLA/PEG blend, containing 15 wt% PEG and with a molecular weight of 12,000 g/mol, exhibited superior shape fixity (99.

Psychedelics, historically celebrated for their cultural and spiritual significance, have emerged as potential breakthrough therapeutic agents due to their profound effects on consciousness, emotional processing, mood, and neural plasticity. This review explores the mechanisms underlying psychedelics' effects, focusing on their ability to modulate brain connectivity and neural circuit activity, including the default mode network (DMN), cortico-striatal thalamo-cortical (CSTC) loops, and the relaxed beliefs under psychedelics (REBUS) model. Advanced neuroimaging techniques reveal psychedelics' capacity to enhance functional connectivity between sensory cerebral areas while reducing the connections between associative brain areas, decreasing the rigidity and rendering the brain more plastic and susceptible to external changings, offering insights into their therapeutic outcome.
