IntroductionTraditional obesity measures including body mass index, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, and waist-to-height ratio have limitations. The primary objective of this study was to identify and review the validity of non-traditional obesity measures, using measures of total body fat as the reference standard, that have been used across multiple life stages. MethodsWe conducted a systematic review and searched MEDLINE, Embase, and PsycINFO.

The trichomes of mustard leaves have significance due to their ability to combat unfavorable external conditions and enhance disease resistance. It was demonstrated that the MYB-bHLH-WD40 (MBW) ternary complex consists of MYB, basic Helix-Loop-Helix (bHLH), and WD40-repeat (WD40) family proteins and plays a key role in regulating trichome formation and density. The bHLH gene family, particularly the Myelocytomatosis (MYC) proteins that possess the structural bHLH domain (termed bHLH-MYC), are crucial to the formation and development of leaf trichomes in plants.

Light-polymerizing reline materials offer improved chairside workability compared to conventional auto-polymerizing reline materials, addressing the partial denture (RPD) incompatibility caused by residual ridge resorption owing to long-term use. This study evaluates the fitting accuracy of relined materials by combining conventional fitting tests with three-dimensional (3D) measurements for detailed analysis. Light-polymerizing reline material (HikariLiner, Tokuyama, Tokyo, Japan, LP) and auto-polymerizing material (Rebase III, Tokuyama, AP) were used.

Indwelling medical devices, such as urinary catheters, often experience bacterial colonization, forming biofilms that resist antibiotics and the host's immune defenses through quorum sensing (QS), a chemical communication system. This study explores the development of antimicrobial coatings by immobilizing acylase, a quorum-quenching enzyme, on sandblasted polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surfaces. PDMS, commonly used in medical devices, was sandblasted to increase its surface roughness, enhancing acylase attachment.

Exploring the relationships between plant phenotypes and genetic information requires advanced phenotypic analysis techniques for precise characterization. However, the diversity and variability of plant morphology challenge existing methods, which often fail to generalize across species and require extensive annotated data, especially for 3D datasets. This paper proposes a zero-shot 3D leaf instance segmentation method using RGB sensors.
