A 49-year-old man with abdominal pain was referred to our hospital. Abdominal computed tomography showed an extraluminal tumor near the gastric anterior wall and intra-abdominal fluid collection. A ruptured intra-abdominal tumor was suspected, and emergency abdominal angiography was performed. Hemorrhage into the abdominal cavity was seen, and transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) was performed, which stopped the bleeding. The tumor was surgically resected, and a diagnosis of an extraluminally growing gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor was made. TAE should be considered for rare cases of extraluminally growing tumors with intra-abdominal hemorrhage.

Objective: The primary purpose of the study was to explore the clinical efficacy of the novel snare assisted endoscopic resection of extraluminal growing gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (gastric GISTs) using external traction, and the secondary purpose was to compare the novel snare assisted endoscopic resection of extraluminal GISTs with the standard laparoscopic procedure.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the patients who underwent novel external traction assisted endoscopic resection or laparoscopic resection for their extraluminal gastric GIST ≤5 cm in diameter.
Results: A total of 111 patients (27 in the endoscopic group and 84 in the laparoscopic group) were included in this study.

Rationale: One-lung ventilation (OLV) is required during most thoracic surgeries to facilitate surgical visualization by collapsing the lung. Double-lumen tubes and bronchial blockers are two commonly used devices for OLV; however, it may be difficult to place two devices in patients with narrow inlets, such as those that have tumor-induced airway stenosis.
Patient Concerns: We report the case of an adult patient with a lung tumor that was growing rapidly and hemorrhaging; thus, a thoracotomy for lung resection should have been performed as early as possible.
