Introduction: Hydropneumothorax with a bronchopleural fistula is an infrequent but severe complication of necrotizing pneumonia associated with high morbidity and mortality. Few cases in the adult population have been reported.
Case Report: This is a case of a 76-year-old male patient who developed pneumonia caused by and complicated by hydropneumothorax. He was managed conservatively with chest tube placement but denied surgical management and eventually died despite initial improvement.
Conclusions: Early recognition and appropriate management of pneumonia complications, such as hydropneumothorax, including thoracic surgeon interventions, are crucial as this complication can be fatal. Factors like the patient's overall status, preferences, and comorbidities may have a crucial effect on clinical decisions and outcomes.

Background: Oliguric acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the critical conditions which needs emergent treatment due to the lack of the capacity of excreting toxins and fluids, and plasma membrane bleb formation is considered as one of the characteristic morphologic alterations in ischemic AKI in both animal models and human. We present here an autopsy case with clear electron microscopy images capturing a definitive instance of blebbing in ischemic AKI.
Case Presentation: A 66-year-old man was admitted for oliguric AKI with nephrotic syndrome (NS).

Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) remains a leading cause of mortality globally, often resulting in irreversible damage to cardiomyocytes. Ferroptosis, a recently identified form of regulated cell death driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, has emerged as a significant contributor to post-MI cardiac injury. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response has been implicated in exacerbating ferroptosis.

Chest imaging in children presents unique challenges due to varying requirements across age groups. For chest radiographs, achieving optimal images often involves careful positioning and immobilisation techniques. Antero-posterior projections are easier to obtain in younger children, while lateral decubitus radiographs are sometimes used when expiratory images are difficult to obtain and for free air exclusion.

The inflammatory response of lung tissue and abnormal proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells are involved in the pathogenesis of high-altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH). Halofuginone (HF), an active ingredient derivative of Chang Shan (Dichroa febrifuga Lour. [Hydrangeaceae]), has antiproliferative, antihypertrophic, antifibrotic, and other effects, but its protective effects on HAPH remains unclear.

Diabetes (DM) can occur as a complication of acute, acute recurrent, or chronic pancreatitis, affecting more than 30% of adults with chronic pancreatitis. Data on the pathophysiology and management are limited, especially in pediatric population. Proposed mechanisms include insulin deficiency, insulin resistance, decreased pancreatic polypeptide, and possible beta-cell autoimmunity (in a small subset).
