The spiral generator, based on the principle of the electric field vector inversion, is capable of delivering repetitive high-voltage nanosecond pulses in the commercial portable pulsed x-ray source and gas switch trigger source. However, the spiral generator suffers from extremely low output efficiency, which significantly affects the compactness and accelerates the insulation film breakdown at electrode foil edges since the high charging voltage is required. A novel output efficiency improvement method for the spiral generator was proposed, implementing the permalloy film inside the passive layer to optimize internal voltage wave propagation processes during the pulser erection.

Dynamic Features Driven by Stochastic Collisions in a Nanopore for Precise Single-Molecule Identification.

J Am Chem Soc

January 2025

Molecular Sensing and Imaging Center, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210023, P. R. China.

Nanopore technology holds great potential for single-molecule identification. However, extracting meaningful features from ionic current signals and understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the specific features remain unresolved. In this study, we uncovered a distinctive ionic current pattern in a K238Q aerolysin nanopore, characterized by transient spikes superimposed on two stable transition states.

Halide-free ion pair organocatalyst from biobased α-hydroxy acid for cycloaddition of CO to epoxide.

State Key Laboratory Materials-Oriented Chemical Engineering, College of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Nanjing Tech University, 30 Puzhu Road South, Nanjing 211816, China.

The cycloaddition of CO to epoxide (CCE) reactions produce valuable cyclic carbonates useful in the electrolytes of lithium-ion batteries, as organic solvents, and in polymeric materials. However, halide-containing catalysts are predominantly used in these reactions, despite halides being notoriously corrosive to steel processing equipment and residual halides also having harmful effects. To eliminate the reliance on halides as cocatalyst in most CCE reactions, halide-free catalysts are highly desirable.

Herein, we propose a new GaN/MoSiP van der Waals (vdWs) heterostructure constructed by vertically stacking GaN and MoSiP monolayers. Its electronic, optical, and photocatalytic properties are explored DFT++BSE calculations. The calculated binding energy and phonon spectrum demonstrated the material's high stabilities.

Direct Givens rotation method based on error back-propagation algorithm for self-consistent field solution.

J Chem Phys

January 2025

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Waseda University, 3-4-1 Okubo, Shinjuku, Tokyo 169-8555, Japan.

The self-consistent field (SCF) procedure is the standard technique for solving the Hartree-Fock and Kohn-Sham density functional theory calculations, while convergence is not theoretically guaranteed. Direct minimization methods, such as the augmented Lagrangian method (ALM) and second-order SCF (SOSCF), obtain the SCF solution by minimizing the Lagrangian with the gradient. In SOSCF, molecular orbitals are optimized by truncating the Taylor expansion of a unitary matrix represented in exponential form to ensure the orthonormality condition.
