Objective: Assess color alteration and hydrogen peroxide (HP) penetration in human and bovine teeth using various in-office bleaching protocols with different application times.
Materials And Methods: Thirty healthy human premolars and 30 healthy bovine incisors were divided into five groups and subjected to different bleaching protocols: 2 × 15 min, 1 × 30 min, 2 × 20 min, or 1 × 40 min, with a control group for each tooth type. All teeth were treated with 35% HP gel. Color alteration was measured using digital spectrophotometry before and 1 week after bleaching. HP concentration within the pulp was determined via UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Statistical analysis included one-way ANOVA, Tukey's, and Dunnett's tests (α = 0.05).
Results: All groups exhibited significant color alteration, with no statistically differences among them (p > 0.05). However, significant differences were observed when compared with their respective control groups (p < 0.05). HP penetration into the pulp was evident in all bleached teeth compared to the control groups (p < 0.05), with the 2 × 20 group showing the highest HP levels within the pulp cavity, irrespective of tooth type (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: A simplified 1 × 30-min protocol can be recommended as it effectively maintains color alteration and HP penetration, irrespective of whether human or bovine teeth.
Clinical Significance: This study suggests that an in-office dental bleaching protocol using a 1 × 30-min session is recommended, as it ensures both effective color change and no increase in the amount of HP penetration.

The dried capitulum of chrysanthemums is a traditional material in scented tea, and the kill-green process is a critical step in determining their quality. However, the changes in the physicochemical properties during kill-green and the mechanisms by which these changes affect drying characteristics, metabolic components, and aroma profiles remain unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the changes in water status, polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase activities, and microstructure during high-humidity air impingement kill-green (HHAIK) and steam kill-green (SK), and their effects on drying behavior, color, phytochemicals, and volatile profile of dried chrysanthemums.

Introduction: In the forensic field, having accurate understanding of the macroscopic and microscopic alterations that occur in teeth when exposed to temperatures has remarkable significance. The preservation of delicate incinerated teeth is crucial in fire investigations that pertain to the temperature exposed, as well as the identification of victims. This preservation is necessary in order to conduct macroscopic and microscopic ultra-structural examinations, which provide valuable insights into the structural alterations that dental tissues undergo when exposed to low to high temperatures.

Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) first responders in Canada report experiencing racism and an increased risk of trauma-related mental health symptoms. Using a BIPOC first responder sample in Canada, the present study examined subgroups of BIPOC first responders based on the frequency of different types of racist events, and their relations with mental health symptoms (posttraumatic stress disorder [PTSD] symptom clusters of intrusion, avoidance, negative alterations in cognitions and mood [NACM], and alterations in arousal and reactivity [AAR]; depression severity; anxiety severity). The sample included 196 BIPOC first responders who reported more than one traumatic experience (= 35.

The reaction of aqueous suspensions of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with UV-excited sodium hypochlorite has previously been reported to be an efficient route for doping nanotubes with oxygen atoms. We have investigated how this reaction system is affected by pH level, dissolved O content, and radical scavengers and traps. Products were characterized with near-IR fluorescence, Raman, and XPS spectroscopy.

In-office teeth bleaching is an esthetic dental procedure performed to whiten teeth. A desensitizing procedure often requires prior in-office bleaching to relieve tooth hypersensitivity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the bleaching efficiency of teeth specimens pre-treated with different desensitizing agents by analyzing the color parameters.
