Among lipids, lysophosphatidylcholines (LPCs) with various fatty acyl chains have been identified as potential agonists of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Recently, targeting GPCRs has been switched to diabetes and obesity. Concomitantly, our last findings indicate the insulin secretagogue properties of and palmitoleic acid (16:1, n-7) resulting from GPCR activation, however, associated with different signaling pathways. We here report the synthesis of LPCs bearing two geometrical isomers of palmitoleic acids and investigation of their impact on human pancreatic β cells viability, insulin secretion, and activation of four GPCRs previously demonstrated to be targeted by free fatty acids and LPCs. Moreover, molecular modeling was exploited to investigate the probable binding sites of tested ligands and calculate their affinity toward GPR40, GPR55, GPR119, and GPR120 receptors.

The WRINKLED1 (WRI1) transcription factor controls carbon flow in plants through regulating the expression of glycolysis and fatty acid biosynthesis genes. The role of Gossypium hirsutum WRINKLED1 (GhWRI1) in seed-oil accumulation still needs to be explored. Multiple sequence alignment of WRI1 proteins confirmed the presence of two conserved AP2 domains.

Whey fermentation could produce bioactive substances with immunomodulatory effects, metabolic syndrome modulation, and antioxidant properties, thereby imparting functional characteristics to products and facilitating the development of novel foods with health-promoting potential. A non-targeted metabolomics approach using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was employed to investigate changes in the metabolite profiles of whey fermented by strain KM812 over varying fermentation durations. The findings demonstrated a progressive enrichment of metabolites over time.

It is essential to remove cholesterol from the body to suppress atherosclerosis progression. ABCA1 and ABCG1 transport cholesterol in peripheral cells including macrophages and function in the formation of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). ABCG5/ABCG8 functions in the efflux of cholesterol from the body.
