A series of Schiff-base boron difluoride complexes with polyethylene glycol chains were synthesized and their photophysical properties were examined. These complexes maintained the solvent-free liquid state even at room temperature and their glass transition temperatures () were determined to be around -40 °C. The complexes showed blue to yellow luminescence under UV irradiation in the solvent-free liquid state with good emission quantum yields () of up to 0.26. The luminescence colour could also be tuned by dissolving organic dyes in the blue luminescent liquid sample. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent (TD) DFT calculations were performed to further understand the photophysical properties.

The synthesis, structure, and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) properties of axially chiral boron difluoride complexes are described. A series of optically pure bis (boron difluoride) complexes were prepared in 5 steps from commercially available (S)- or (R)-BINOL as starting materials. The complexes were found to exhibit similar yellow photoluminescence in solution, regardless of the type of substituents on the nitrogen atoms.

Injectable bioresponsive bone adhesive hydrogels inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome on demand to accelerate diabetic fracture healing.

Electronic address:

Diabetes is associated with excessive inflammation, which negatively impacts the fracture healing process and delays bone repair. Previously, growing evidence indicated that activation of the nod-like receptor (NLR) family, such as nod-like receptor thermal protein domain-associated protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome induces a vicious cycle of chronic low-grade inflammatory responses in diabetic fracture. Here, we describe the synthesis of a bone adhesive hydrogel that can be locally injected into the fracture site and releases a natural inhibitor of NLRP3 (rutin) in response to pathological cue reactive oxygen species activity (ROS).

Injectable, in situ-forming hydrogels, both biocompatible and biodegradable, have garnered significant attention in tissue engineering due to their potential for creating adaptable scaffolds. The adaptability of these hydrogels, made from natural proteins and polysaccharides, opens up a world of possibilities. In this study, sodium alginate was used to synthesize alginate di-aldehyde (ADA) through periodate oxidation, resulting in a lower molecular weight and reduced viscosity, with different degrees of oxidation (54% and 70%).

The repair of diabetic wound still encounters huge challenges, such as disordered inflammatory regulation and impaired neovascularization. Here, a pH/ROS/glucose responsive and photothermal hydrogel is developed for diabetic wound healing. The hydrogel is formed through cross-linkage between phenylboronic acid-modified carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS-PBA) and oxide dextran (OXD), utilizing Schiff base and phenylboronate ester bonds.

Wound bacterial infections can significantly delay the healing process and even lead to fetal sepsis. There is a need for multifunctional dressings that possess antibacterial property, tissue adhesive property, self-healing capability, and biocompatibility to effectively treat bacteria-infected wound. In this study, we report a dual dynamically crosslinked hydrogel, OHA-PBA/PVA/Gen, which incorporates the antibiotic gentamicin (Gen) as a dynamic crosslinker.
