Postpartum depression and mother-to-infant bonding difficulties (MIBD), two issues crucial to maternal and infant mental health, often coexist and affect each other. Our study aims to dissect their complex relationship through a graphical LASSO network analysis of individual symptoms in 5594 Japanese postpartum women, whose geographical distribution was nationally representative. We identified 'fear', 'enjoyment', 'overwhelm', and 'insomnia' as common bridge symptoms linking postpartum depression and MIBD across three distinct postpartum periods.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) poses a substantial global health challenge, with prevalence rates exhibiting geographical variation. Despite its widespread recognition, the exact prevalence and associated risk factors remain elusive. This article comprehensively analyzed the global burden of GERD, shedding light on its risk factors, underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, current diagnostic modalities, evolving management strategies tailored to diverse patient profiles, and complex determinants contributing to treatment failures.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex multifactorial endocrinopathy affecting reproductive aged women globally, whose presentation is strongly influenced by genetic makeup, ethnic, and geographic diversity leaving these affected women substantially predisposed to reproductive and metabolic perturbations. Sophisticated techniques spanning genomics, proteomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics have been harnessed to comprehensively understand the enigmatic pathophysiology of PCOS, however, conclusive markers for PCOS are still lacking today. Metabolomics represents a paradigm shift in biotechnological advances enabling the simultaneous identification and quantification of metabolites and the use of this approach has added yet another dimension to help unravel the strong metabolic component of PCOS.

The identification and dissection of the genetic foundations underlying natural variations in crop species are critical for understanding their phenotypic diversity and for subsequent application in selective breeding. In this research, we identify a natural polymorphism in the promoter region of the G protein α subunit 1 (GPA1) gene, which is associated with the width of the tomato leaves. This may be an evolutionary consequence resulting from the domestication processes aimed at increasing fruit size.
