The aims of the present study were to: 1) investigate the within and between-session reliability of the Trackman 4 launch monitor system, and 2) determine the inter-relationships of some of these commonly used metrics. Golfers attended two test sessions at an indoor golf academy and performed 10 shots using their own driver. Results showed excellent within and between-session reliability for CHS (ICC = 0.99; SEM = 1.64-1.67 mph), ball speed (ICC = 0.97-0.99; SEM = 2.46-4.42 mph) and carry distance (ICC = 0.91-0.97; SEM = 7.80-14.21 mph). In contrast, spin rate showed the worst reliability (ICC = 0.02-0.60; SEM = 240.93-454.62 º/s) and also exhibited significant differences between test sessions ( = -0.41;  < 0.05), as did smash factor ( = 0.47;  < 0.05) and dynamic loft ( = -0.21;  < 0.05). Near perfect associations were evident in both test sessions between CHS and ball speed ( = 0.98-0.99), CHS and carry distance ( = 0.94-0.95), ball speed and carry distance ( = 0.97-0.98), and launch angle and dynamic loft ( = 0.98-0.99). Collectively, CHS, ball speed and carry distance serve as the most consistently reliable metrics making them excellent choices for practitioners working with golfers.

J Strength Cond Res XX(X): 000-000, 2024-The aim of this study was to establish the reliability and sensitivity of isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP) and sprint speed (5 m, 40 m, and maximal sprint speed) in adolescent women, before exploring the stability of this across maturation to provide maturity-specific benchmarks.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared the acceleration-speed profiles of linear sprinting (LS) and curvilinear sprinting (CS) to evaluate their fit and reliability metrics in sports science students.
  • Results showed higher theoretical maximal velocity and slope for LS, while CS had a higher theoretical maximal acceleration.
  • The findings suggest that while ASP variables are reliable within sessions, combining multiple trials improves overall reliability across sessions, providing insights for monitoring curvilinear sprints.

Temporal binding refers to the subjective shortening of time between a cause and its effect compared with two unrelated events. The effect has been extensively explored over the past two decades and manifests across a robust range of paradigms, reflecting two distinct expressions of binding: (1) the subjective shortening of elapsed time between cause and effect and (2) the subjective attraction of cause and effect to each other. However, whether and how these binding expressions are related is still largely unknown.

Context: The rate of force development (RFD), defined as the ability to rapidly generate muscle force, is commonly tested using an electromechanical dynamometer in isometric mode. However, these devices are expensive and not readily available. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the interrater reliability of a fixed handheld dynamometer to measure the knee extensors' RFD and provide reference values using the proposed method.

Purpose: To investigate reliability, concurrent validity and clinical feasibility of local tissue water measurements in patients with lower limb lymphedema and healthy controls.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study the Moisture Meter D Compact device (MMDC) measurement and "pitting test" were performed three times by two assessors to test intra- and inter-rater reliability in 47 patients and 30 healthy controls. To investigate the between-session reliability, 29 patients and 21 healthy controls were reassessed two weeks later.
