Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). CT imaging with contrast agents is commonly used for visualizing the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in UC patients. CT is a common imaging modality for evaluating IBD, especially in patients with acute abdominal pain presenting to emergency departments. CT's major limitation lies in its lack of specificity for imaging UC, as the commonly used agents are not well-suited for inflamed areas. Recent studies gastrointestinal tract (GIT) in UC. Further systemic research is needed to explore novel contrast agents that can specifically image disease processes in this disease setting.

Metatranscriptomic insights into the mechanism of 'Multiple Qu' utilization in Jian-flavor Baijiu fermentation.

Food Res Int

January 2025

School of Food and Biological Engineering, Hefei University of Technology, No.193 Tunxi Road, Hefei city 230009, Anhui province, PR China. Electronic address:

The unique process of "Multiple-qu fermentation" (MF) is essential for the formation of the Jian-flavor Baijiu, but the mechanisms behind its aroma development remain not fully understood. This study compared the effects of "Single-qu fermentation"(SF) and MF on Baijiu production to elucidate the microbial and metabolic interactions responsible for its distinct aroma. Firstly, significant differences were observed in the microbial communities of the two types of Daqu.

Electronic address:

Biofilm formation on biological and material surfaces represents a heavy health and economic burden for both patient and society. To contrast this phenomenon, medical devices combining antibacterial and pro-wound healing abilities are a promising strategy. In the present work, Xanthan gum/Guar gum (XG/GG)-based scaffolds were tuned with thymol and Zn to obtain wound dressings that combine antibacterial and antibiofilm properties and favour the healing process.

Comparison of Bacterial Intracellular and Secreted Proteins produced in Milk Versus Medium for Escherichia coli by Proteomic Analysis.

J Dairy Sci

January 2025

College of Food Science and Engineering, Qingdao Agricultural University, Qingdao 266109, Shandong, China; Bathurst Future Agri-Tech Institute, Qingdao Agricultural University, Qingdao, 266109, Shandong, China. Electronic address:

The growth and reproduction of microorganisms are dependent on nutrient supply. Here, Milk and LB media were utilized as nutrition sources for Escherichia coli, and the changes in bacterial and secretory proteins at 3 time points (3, 9, and 18 h) in the growth cycle were studied using a label-free proteomics technique. The findings revealed that the abundances of bacterial intracellular proteins inosine/xanthosine triphosphatase and universal stress protein F increase dramatically during the growth phase in milk and LB media.
