Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) represents a significant postoperative complication after artificial femoral head replacement, with the incidence increasing proportionally with patient age. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of early postoperative use of intermittent pneumatic compression devices (IPC), followed by the combined use of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) after 48 hours, for the prevention of postoperative lower limb DVT in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty. The retrospective study included 100 elderly patients who underwent unilateral femoral head replacement.

Platelet cells are essential to maintain haemostasis and play a critical role in thrombosis. They swiftly respond to vascular injury by adhering to damaged vessel surfaces, activating signalling pathways, and aggregating with each other to control bleeding. This dynamic process of platelet activation is intricately coordinated, spanning from membrane receptor maturation to intracellular interactions to whole-cell responses.

Patients on chronic anticoagulation undergoing metabolic surgery represent an increased risk of complications, including both bleeding and thrombotic events, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). The optimal perioperative management of patients who are receiving chronic anticoagulation therapy (CAT) is complex. In the colorectal surgery literature, patients on CAT have a 10% rate of peri-procedural bleeding and a 3% rate of thromboembolism.

Purpose: Dexamethasone has shown promising efficacy in alleviating pain and enhancing outcomes undergoing TKA. However, an optimal route of administration, dosage, and treatment duration have not yet been established. This study is to assess the effects of intravenous dexamethasone administration on postoperative pain management and prognosis in patients undergoing TKA.

Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), consisting of aspirin and a P2Y12 inhibitor, is the standard treatment for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DES). However, the optimal duration of DAPT remains debated due to the need to balance ischemic event reduction with bleeding risks. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor monotherapy after short-duration DAPT (1-3 months) compared to extended DAPT, focusing on major bleeding and cardiovascular outcomes.
