Lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration is thought to be the main cause of low back pain, although the mechanisms by which it occurs and leads to pain remain unclear. In healthy adult discs, vessels and nerves are present only in the outer layer of the annulus fibrosus and in the bony endplate. Animal models, and histological and biomechanical studies have shown that annulus tear or endplate injury is the initiating factor for painful disc degeneration.

Alexithymia is a psychological trait characterized by difficulty expressing emotions. Previous studies reported that individuals with higher alexithymia have a decreased sense of interoception, which is the sense of monitoring and controlling internal organs. Thus, we hypothesized that internal organ activity (cardiac activities in the present study) was easily affected by false feedback in individuals with severe alexithymia.

As an important starch crop, sweet potato has significant practical importance for maintaining food security worldwide. This study identified differential expressed genes associated with the expansion of tuberous roots by comparing the transcriptome across tuberous roots at the initial period (initiated tuberous roots (ITRs), rapid expansion period (tuberous roots (TRs), fibrous roots (FRs) at the seedling stage, and fibrous roots at the adult stage (unexpanded FRs (UFRs)). sRNA-seq and degradome analyses were performed to reveal the role of miRNAs in tuberous root development in sweet potato.

This article evaluated different production strategies, characteristics, and applications of biochar for ameliorating soil fertility and microbial diversity. The biochar production techniques are evolving, indicating that newer methods (including hydrothermal and retort carbonization) operate with minimum temperatures, yet resulting in high yields with significant improvements in different properties, including heating value, oxygen functionality, and carbon content, compared to the traditional methods. It has been found that the temperature, feedstock type, and moisture content play critical roles in the fabrication process.

Objectives: To predict and characterize the three-dimensional (3D) structure of protein arginine methyltransferase 2 (PRMT2) using homology modeling, besides, the identification of potent inhibitors for enhanced comprehension of the biological function of this protein arginine methyltransferase (PRMT) family protein in carcinogenesis.
Materials And Methods: An method was employed to predict and characterize the three-dimensional structure. The bulk of PRMTs in the PDB shares just a structurally conserved catalytic core domain.
