Background: This study aimed to investigate miRNAs and upstream regulatory transcription factors involved in schizophrenia (SZ) pathogenesis.
Methods: Differential expression of miRNAs and genes in SZ patients was investigated utilizing the gene expression omnibus dataset, gene ontology annotations, and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction experiments were conducted to validate the predictive screening of regulatory genes in peripheral blood samples from 20 SZ patients and 20 healthy controls.

Abortion is one of the major causes of economic losses in livestock production worldwide. Because several factors can lead to abortion in cattle, sheep and goats, laboratory diagnosis, including the molecular detection of pathogens causing abortion, is often necessary. Bacterial zoonotic diseases such as brucellosis, coxiellosis, leptospirosis, and listeriosis have been implicated in livestock abortion, but they are under diagnosed and under-reported in most developing countries, including Botswana.

is the parasite responsible for a life-threatening disease for dogs in Central Europe, of which the main vector is the ornate dog tick-. The objective of the presented study was to assess the prevalence of infection in dogs with clinical suspicion of babesiosis, which tested positive for from locations where there is no or very limited information about dog exposure to this pathogen. In order to confirm the presence of this protozoan, blood samples were collected from dogs treated in veterinary clinics with suspicion of canine babesiosis.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) represent a valuable source of biomarkers for central nervous system (CNS) diseases, offering new pathways for diagnosis and monitoring. However, existing methods for isolating EVs from CSF often prove to be labor-intensive and reliant on specialized equipment, hindering their clinical application. In this study, we present a novel, clinically compatible method for isolating EVs from CSF.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) development is a gradual process in which progressive histological alterations of the intestinal mucosa damage occur over years. This process can be influenced by modifiable external factors such as lifestyle and diet. Most CRC cases (>80%) originate from conventional adenomas through the adenomatous pathway and usually harbour dysplastic cells, whereas the serrated pathway is less frequent (<20% cases) and comprises hyperplastic polyps and other polyps containing dysplastic cells.
