Three undescribed isosteroidal alkaloids, przewalskines A-C (1-3), as well as seven known alkaloids (4-10) were obtained from Fritillaria przewalskii bulbs. Their structures were deduced by extensive HRESIMS, 1D NMR, and 2D NMR analyses, and their bioactivities were evaluated involving the anti-inflammatory and inhibitory potencies on AChE, BChE, and Aβ aggregation. Compound 4 revealed the potent effect on inhibiting Aβ aggregation activity with IC value of 33.1 μM, AChE activity with IC value of 6.9 μM, and also showed NO release inhibitory acitivity with IC value of 32.6 μM. These findings contribute new multi-.target anti-AD agents and embody the chemical diversity of F. przewalskii.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the rhizosphere bacterial communities associated with the medicinal plant Maxim, focusing on how soil properties influence these communities in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau.
  • High-throughput sequencing revealed distinct differences in bacterial diversity and composition between rhizosphere and bulk soil, with dominant groups including Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Acidobacteria vital for nutrient cycling.
  • The analysis indicated that soil properties, especially pH, significantly affect bacterial communities, with alkaline conditions linked to lower biomass of the medicinal bulb, suggesting Maxim prefers non-alkaline soils.

Fritillaria species, a well-known Chinese traditional medicine for more than 2,000 years, have become rare resources due to excessive harvesting. In order to balance the economical requirement and ecological protection of species, it is necessary to determine (1) the important environmental variables that were responsible for the spatial distribution, (2) distribution change in response to climate change in the future, (3) ecological niche overlap between various species, and (4) the correlation between spatial distribution and phylogenies as well. In this study, the areas with potential ecological suitability for , , and were predicted using MaxEnt based on the current occurrence records and bioclimatic variables.
