and miRNA regulate mammalian pubertal initiation and Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) production. However, it remains unclear which signaling pathways regulates to modulate GnRH production. In this study, the mRNA expression levels of and in the pubertal and juvenile goat hypothalamus and pituitary gland were detected, and expression in the pubertal hypothalamus decreased significantly compared with that in juvenile tissues.

LIN28B-mediated PI3K/AKT pathway activation promotes metastasis in colorectal cancer models.

J Clin Invest

January 2025

Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Digestive and Liver, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York, United States of America.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a leading cause of cancer death due to metastatic spread. LIN28B is overexpressed in 30% of CRCs and promotes metastasis, yet its mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we genetically modified CRC cell lines to overexpress LIN28B, resulting in enhanced PI3K/AKT pathway activation and liver metastasis in mice.

The abnormal expression of PHAX was observed in esophageal cancer, however, its specific function and mechanism remain to be further elucidated. We demonstrated that PHAX, LIN28B, and PBX3 were upregulated in esophageal cancer, while TET2 was downregulated. Elevated PHAX correlated with adverse outcomes among esophageal cancer patients.

Zinc finger protein 384 (ZNF384) is a highly conserved transcribed gene associated with the development of multiple tumors, however, its role and mechanism in serous ovarian cancer (SOC) are unknown. We first confirmed that ZNF384 was abnormally highly expressed in SOC tissues by bioinformatics analysis and immunohistochemistry. We further used lentivirus packaging and transfection techniques to construct ZNF384 overexpression or knockdown cell lines, and through a series of cell function experiments, gradually verified that ZNF384 promoted a series of malignant behaviors of SOC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion.

Tanshinone T1/T2A inhibits non-small cell lung cancer through Lin28B-let-7-BORA/MYC regulatory network.

Gene

January 2025

Lab for Noncoding RNA & Cancer, School of Life Sciences, Shanghai University, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Background: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Tanshinones are a group of compounds in Salvia miltiorrhiza. Although the effects of tanshinone I (T1) and tanshinone IIA (T2A) are widely concerned, the mechanisms of T1 and T2A in lung cancer is rarely studied.
