Parapharyngeal abscesses leading to complications, although rare after the advent of antibiotics, can lead to serious complications. One such complication is carotid erosion that can lead to a potentially fatal carotid artery blowout. We report a case of a previously healthy infant who presented with fever, ear bleed and progressively increasing swelling in the right side of his neck that led to airway compromise. The child required immediate securing of the airway at presentation. Imaging revealed lobulated abscess with multiple bleeding points eroding the carotid vessels, along with internal jugular venous thrombus. Surgical exploration was done and abscess debulked. Histopathology revealed aspergillus, which was treated with antifungals. He was discharged on oral warfarin after 40 days of hospital stay and remains well on follow-up. Sentinel ear bleed warrants close observation for possibility of carotid artery blowout in children with parapharyngeal abscesses.

Tail docking and ear tagging are common husbandry practices in lambs, but little is known about subsequent wound healing or how it may be affected by performing both procedures concurrently. Our objectives were to: (1) describe wound healing following tail docking and ear tagging, and (2) compare healing of ear wounds in docked and undocked lambs. Within 28 female Polypay twin pairs, one lamb was docked using a rubber ring between 1 and 2 days of age and the other lamb's tail was left intact.

Background: Children with end-stage heart failure listed for cardiac transplantation may require mechanical ventilation and/or circulatory support whilst awaiting transplantation. A subgroup of these patients is unable to wean off mechanical ventilator support and undergo tracheostomy to enhance quality of life and allow de-escalation of intensive care. There is limited evidence of the use of tracheostomy associated with pediatric cardiac transplantation.

This report describes a rare case of a paraganglioma occurring beneath the vocal folds. During the preoperative biopsy, we encountered significant hemorrhage, forcing us to stop the procedure and preventing us from obtaining a definitive diagnosis. Despite these challenges, the eventual surgery had a good outcome.

Background: Arthrocentesis is a minimally invasive procedure for treating intra-articular temporomandibular disorders. While it is considered relatively safe, like any surgical intervention, it carries potential risks.
Purpose: The study purpose was to estimate the frequency of complications associated with temporomandibular joint arthrocentesis, identify risk factors, and improve preparedness for effective prevention and management strategies.

Purpose Of Review: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a leading cause of death and disability across the world. We sought to investigate the prevalence and clinical presentation of ocular injuries in IPV.
Recent Findings: Literature review revealed 16 published studies that evaluated ocular injuries in IPV, of which the study types included 9 retrospective studies, 2 prospective, 1 review, 1 invited commentary, 2 case reports, and 1 population-based cross-sectional survey.
