Based on the symmetric initiation mechanism of double-wing cracks in coal rock mass induced by high-pressure electro-recoil water pressure, fracturing experiments have been performed on coal rock mass under different water pressures and discharge conditions using high-voltage electric pulse hydraulic fracturing devices. Combined with CT scans, the crack spatial distribution inside the post-break coal rock mass was analyzed and found that the edge of the water injection hole is prone to produce double-wing cracks along the drilling hole diameter. ABAQUS is used to verify the physical test and extend the test conditions, the geometric parameter change, morphological expansion rule and crack initiation mechanism of double-wing crack in coal rock mass under different discharge conditions and ground stress conditions are studied.

We present an unusual case of a macular lesion, possibly a spontaneously closed macular hole, at a 4-year follow-up visit, after lens-sparing vitrectomy (LSV) in stage 4A retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Optical coherence tomography scans of the macula were suggestive of a spontaneously closed macular hole and fibrovascular proliferation at the equator. We hypothesise that tangential traction by residual posterior hyaloid could lead to late macular hole formation after LSV in ROP.

Background: To investigate variations in diagnostic performance of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) according to surgical experience.

Methods: Data were extracted from patients having pT1 or lower primary tumors that underwent PDD-assisted transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) with orally 5-amibolevulinic acid at our institute. Surgical experience was categorized by urological experience (first-year and second-year) and PDD experience (<10, 10-19, and ≥20 cases).

Article Synopsis
  • Red pitaya fruit is gaining popularity as a natural colorant due to its high betalain content, which gives it a vibrant red-purple color sought after in food and cosmetic industries.
  • The fruit is also nutritionally valuable, containing bioactive compounds that might help prevent chronic diseases like diabetes and can be used in pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements.
  • The study focused on using microfiltration to create a concentrated red-purple pitaya extract, which showed promising results in terms of efficient processing and demonstrated non-toxic and blood sugar-lowering effects in zebrafish, indicating its potential value as both a colorant and a health supplement.

In this paper, we propose an innovative light-powered LCE-slider system that enables continuous self-circling on an elliptical track and is comprised of a light-powered LCE string, slider, and rigid elliptical track. By formulating and solving dimensionless dynamic equations, we explain static and self-circling states, emphasizing self-circling dynamics and energy balance. Quantitative analysis reveals that the self-circling frequency of LCE-slider systems is independent of the initial tangential velocity but sensitive to light intensity, contraction coefficients, elastic coefficients, the elliptical axis ratio, and damping coefficients.
