Background: The minimum admissible detuning efficiency (DE) of a receive coil is an essential parameter for coil designers. A receive coil with inefficient detuning leads to inhomogeneous B during excitation. Previously proposed criteria for quantifying the DE rely on indirect measurements and are difficult to implement.
Purpose: To present an alternative method to quantify the DE of receive-only surface coils.
Study Type: Theoretical study supported by simulations and phantom experiments.
Phantoms: Uniform spherical (100 mm diameter) and cylindrical (66 mm diameter) phantoms.
Field Strength/sequence: Dual repetition time B mapping sequence at 1.5T, and Bloch-Siegert shift B mapping sequence at 3.0T.
Assessment: One non-planar (80 × 43 mm) and two planar (40 and 57 mm diameter) surface coils were built. Theoretical analysis was performed to determine the minimum DE required to avoid B distortions. Experimental B maps were acquired for the non-planar and planar surface coils at both 1.5T and 3.0T and visually compared with simulated B maps to assess the validity of the theoretical analysis.
Statistical Tests: None.
Results: Based on the theoretical analysis, the proposed minimum admissible DE, defined as DE = 20 Log (Q) + 13 dB, depended only on the quality factor (Q) of the coil and was independent of coil area and field strength. Simulations and phantom experiments showed that when the DE was higher than this minimum threshold level, the B field generated by the transmission coil was not modified by the receive coil.
Data Conclusion: The proposed criterion for assessing the DE is simple to measure, and does not depend on the area of the coil or on the magnetic field strength, up to 3T. Experimental and simulated B maps confirmed that detuning efficiencies above the theoretically derived minimal admissible DE resulted in a non-distorted B field.

Reducing the average resource consumption is the central quest in discriminating non-orthogonal quantum states for a fixed admissible error rate ϵ. The globally optimal fixed local projective measurement for this task is found to be different from that for previous minimum-error discrimination tasks [S. Slussarenko et al.

The article aims to analyze the pollution with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emitted from the biggest refinery in Romania, using the daily and monthly series registered for two years in two sites on the industrial platform, and the carcinogenic and noncarcinogenic risks for workers at the industrial plant. Since the values of the basic statistics (minimum, maximum, and average) and outliers indicate that most recorded values exceed the maximum admissible limits established by law, the Peaks Over Threshold (POT) method was utilized to model the maximum values of the series and determine the return levels for benzene and total VOC (TVOC). Given the high values obtained for relatively short return periods, indicating potential danger for the workers, we assessed the noncarcinogenic and carcinogenic risks to benzene and TVOC exposure by computing the hazard index (HI) and lifetime cancer risk (LCR).

Qatar produces more than 850,000 m/day of highly treated wastewater. The present study aims at characterizing the effluents coming out of three central wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) of chemical pollutants including metals, metalloids and antibiotics commonly used in the country. Additionally, the study is assessing human health risks associated with the exposure to the treated wastewater (TWW) via dermal and ingestion routes.

In this research, the one-step synthesis of novel porphyrin-based nanocomposites was performed easily using a photochemical under visible light illumination strategy. As a result, the focus of this research is on synthesizing and using decorated ZnTPP (zinc(II)tetrakis(4-phenyl)porphyrin) nanoparticles with Ag, Ag/AgCl/Cu, and Au/Ag/AgCl nanostructures as antibacterial agents. Initially, ZnTPP NPs were synthesized as a result of the self-assembly of ZnTPP.
