Published: January 2024

HLA alleles, part of the major histocompatibility complex, are strongly associated with adverse drug reactions (ADRs). This review focuses on and explores its association with ADRs in various ethnic populations and with different drugs, aiming to provide insights into the safe clinical use of drugs and minimize the occurrence of ADRs. Furthermore, the review explores the potential mechanisms by which may be associated with ADRs, aiming to gain new insights into drug modification and identification of haptens. In addition, it analyzes the frequency of the , genotyping methods, cost-effectiveness and treatment measures for adverse reactions, thereby providing a theoretical basis for formulating clinical treatment plans.

Erlotinib, an epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI), is currently used in the therapy of several solid malignancies. This agent has been associated with several dermatological side-effects, the most common being papulo-pustular acneiform rash. Herein we describe a unique skin effect in a patient treated with erlotinib for non-small cell lung cancer.

IgE and cardiac disease.

Acta Physiol (Oxf)

February 2025

Department of Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, USA.

IgE acts primarily via the high affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) and is central to immediate hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylaxis). However, IgE is also important in the development of chronic hypersensitivity reactions (allergy). In the cardiovascular system, numerous clinical studies have investigated serum IgE levels, mainly in the context of myocardial infarction, and have established a clear association between IgE and ischemic cardiac events.

Background: Ventricular tachycardia ablation (VTA) is an important treatment option for ventricular tachycardia, with increasing use across all age groups. However, age-related differences in outcomes remain a concern.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate age-related trends in VTA procedures and their associated adverse events across the United States from 2011 to 2021.

Rare Cell Population Analysis in Early-Stage Breast Cancer Patients.

Breast Cancer (Auckl)

January 2025

Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Background: Circulating rare cells participate in breast cancer evolution as systemic components of the disease and thus, are a source of theranostic information. Exploration of cancer-associated rare cells is in its infancy.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate and classify abnormalities in the circulating rare cell population among early-stage breast cancer patients using fluorescence marker identification and cytomorphology.
