Unlabelled: Broad-range 16S rRNA PCR and sequencing of 1,183 blood specimens from 853 unique patients yielded an interpretable sequence and bacterial identification in 29%, 16S rRNA amplification with uninterpretable sequences in 53%, and no amplification in 18%. This study highlights the potential utility of this technique in identifying fastidious gram-negative and anaerobic bacteria but the frequent recovery of environmental and contaminant organisms argues for its judicious use.
Importance: The existing literature focuses on its performance compared to blood cultures in patients with sepsis, leaving a gap in the literature regarding other blood specimens in suspected infectious syndrome across the severity spectrum. We aimed to characterize its microbiological outcomes and provide insight into its potential clinical utility.

Objectives: To explore the significance of diminished CD3/CD8 and CD3/CDR45RO immunoscores, as well as elevated FOXP3 expression, as potential risk factors for unfavorable responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy among patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
Methods: A case-control study was conducted across two hospitals (a public and a private facility) from August 1st, 2021, to August 31st, 2022. The study population comprised patients diagnosed with the TNBC subtype, with available paraffin blocks from biopsy procedures.

Background: With the continuous development of laparoscopic techniques in recent years, laparoscopic total mesorectal excision (LapTME) and laparoscopic-assisted transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) have gradually become important surgical techniques for treating low-lying rectal cancer (LRC). However, there is still controversy over the efficacy and safety of these two surgical modalities in LRC treatment.
Aim: To compare the efficacy of LapTME TaTME in patients with LRC.

Introduction: Prostate cancer (CaP) is the most common malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in Botswana. Currently, diagnosing CaP relies on examining prostate biopsy samples, which can be challenging due to benign mimics. This study aims to evaluate the potential of Alpha-methyl acyl-CoA racemase (AMACR/p504s) and p63, as diagnostic markers for CaP.

Insulinoma-associated protein 1 (INSM1) is a relatively new immunostain used in the diagnostic assessment of tumors with neuroendocrine differentiation. While INSM1 positivity has been described in some non-neuroendocrine neoplasms, reactivity in red blood cells (RBCs) has only been anecdotally noted in one prior study without description of the degree/extent of staining. INSM1 staining in nucleated erythroid precursors has not been previously reported.
