This paper introduces a simple method for the measurement of the relative permittivity and the Pockels coefficient of electro-optic (EO) materials in a waveguide up to sub-THz frequencies. By miniaturizing the device and making use of plasmonics, the complexities of traditional methods are mitigated. This work elaborates the fabrication tolerance and simplicity of the method, and highlights its applicability to various materials, substrates and configurations. The method is showcased using drop-casted perovskite barium titanate (BaTiO3, BTO) nano-particle thin-films and it has previously been used to measure epitaxial thin film BTO. In this work we show the effective relative permittivity of drop casted BTO to be ε ∼ 30 at 200 MHz, dropping to ∼ 18 at 67 GHz and similarly, the effective Pockels coefficient was found to be r ∼ 16 at 350 MHz and ∼ 8 at 70 GHz. These values are a factor > 50 below the values found for thin film BTO. Yet, the fact that the method can be applied to such different samples and Pockels strengths gives testimony to its versatility and sensitivity.

An electrochemical investigation of 1,2- and 1,4-dihydroxybenzenes was carried out with platinum macro- and microelectrodes using square wave and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Furthermore, the effect of the two solvents-acetic acid and ethyl acetate-was compared. When using square wave voltammetry, signals only appeared at lower frequencies and only when the supporting electrolyte was in excess, as expected due to the relatively low permittivity of the used solvents.

This study explored the structural, optical, antibacterial, and dielectric properties of TiO nanoparticles synthesized using two distinct approaches: sol-gel and biosynthesis. Density functional tight binding (DFTB+) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed alongside experimental techniques to gain a comprehensive understanding of the electronic-property relationships. peel extract was utilized for the biosynthesis method.

A microwave dielectric ceramic based on lithium aluminum silicate (LiAlSiO) with ultralow permittivity was synthesized using the traditional solid-state reaction technique, and its dielectric characteristics at microwave frequencies are presented. The nominal LiAlSiO ceramic exhibited a relative permittivity of 3.95.

This study investigates the use of spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) as an effective feeding mechanism for antennas functioning within the extremely high-frequency (EHF) range. A novel method is proposed for feeding a dielectric rod antenna with SSPPs, featuring a simple design made from FR-4 material with a relative permittivity of 4.3.

We present a high-sensitivity fiber optic soil moisture sensor based on side-polished multimode fibers and lossy mode resonance (LMR). The multimode fibers (MMFs), after side-polishing to form a D-shaped structure, are coated with a single-layer SnO thin film by electron beam evaporation with ion-assisted deposition technology. The LMR effect can be obtained when the refractive index of the thin film is positive and greater than its extinction coefficient and the real part of the external medium permittivity.
