Celiac disease (CD) is an immune disorder, that is triggered by gluten ingestion in genetically predisposed individuals. The HLA-DQB1*02 allele is the main predisposing genetic factor and a candidate for first-line genotyping screening. We designed and validated a simple, DNA purification-free PCR protocol directly from crude saliva, enabling the detection of the DQB1*02 allele. This assay also distinguishes homozygous from heterozygous carriers. We propose this method for use in mass screening and/or epidemiological studies.

Haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a condition of uncontrolled immune activation caused by genetic defects or triggered by infections, malignancies, autoimmune diseases, drugs, pregnancy or post-transplant immunosuppression. This case describes a young man presenting with clinical jaundice and abnormal blood tests, including raised inflammatory markers, abnormal liver function, low haemoglobin (65 g/L) and a low white blood cell count (3.08×10/L).

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), especially the multiplex PCR assay, enables simultaneous detection of multiple genes and is highly effective for diagnostic applications. The CRISPR-associated (Cas) system consists of several genes, and complete gene clusters are essential for its activity; multiplex PCR is an excellent method for detecting these multiple genes. This study focuses on the development and validation of a multiplex PCR protocol for the specific detection of CRISPR-Cas subtypes I-F1 and I-F2 found in A.

Background: The majority of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) miss the opportunity of radical resection, making ICIs-based conversion therapy a primary option. However, challenges persist in predicting response and identifying the optimal patient subset. The objective is to develop a CT-based clinical-radiomics model to predict durable clinical benefit (DCB) of ICIs-based treatment in potentially convertible HCC patients.

This study investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying lead (Pb)-induced nephropathy and assessed the nephroprotective potential of Polydatin (PD). Forty male Wistar rats were divided into five groups (n = 8/group): negative control (NC), normal rats treated with 200 mg/kg/day of PD (NPD200), positive control (PC) receiving Pb only (30 mg/kg/day), and two groups co-administered Pb with PD (100 or 200 mg/kg/day). Serum and urine Pb levels were determined by an atomic absorption spectrophotometer.

This study aims to investigate the function of miR-424 and miR-503, identified as putative regulatory miRNAs of FOXO1, a key factor for decidualization. The expression of both miR-424 and miR-503 in human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs) were measured before and after decidualization. Then, HESCs were transfected with both miR-424 and miR-503 before decidualization.
