Here we present the discovery and development of a highly selective aromatic C-H amination reaction. This electrochemical strategy involves a cathodic reduction process that generates highly electrophilic dicationic -centered radicals that can efficiently engage in aromatic C-H functionalization and channel the regioselectivity of the aromatic substitution. The nitrogen-radical cation-pi interaction with arenes used throughout nature leads to a charge transfer mechanism, with subsequent aromatic C-N bond formation. This electrochemical process generates aryl DABCOnium salts in excellent yields and regioselectivities (single regioisomer in most cases). The scope of the reaction on arene is broad where various functionalities such as aryl halides (bromides, chlorides, fluorides), carbonyls (ketones, esters, imides), sulfonamides, and heteroarenes (pyridines, bipyridines, and terpyridines) are well tolerated. Moreover, we disclose the synthetic utility of the aryl DABCOnium salt adducts leading to the direct access of diverse aryl piperazines and the chemoselective cleavage of the exocyclic aryl C(sp)-N bond over electrophilic C(sp)-N bonds via photoredox catalysis to afford synthetically useful aryl radicals that can engage in aryl C-C and C-P bond formation.

Benzo-fused γ-lactams are fundamental in medicinal chemistry, acting as essential elements for various therapeutic agents due to their structural adaptability and capability to enhance biological activity. In their synthesis, transition metals play a pivotal role as catalysts, offering more efficient alternatives to traditional methods by facilitating C-N bond formation through mechanisms like intramolecular coupling. Recent advances have especially spotlighted transition-metal-catalyzed C-H amination reactions for directly converting C(sp)-H to C(sp)-N bonds, streamlining the creation of these compounds.

Despite advances in the field, a platform for the direct, selective C-H amination of electronically diverse (hetero)arenes, particularly electron-deficient (hetero)arenes, remains an unaddressed fundamental challenge. In addition, many (hetero)arenes present difficulty in common selective pre-functionalization reactions, such as halogenation , or metal-catalyzed borylation and silylation .

Herein, we investigate the effects of ligand design on the nuclearity and reactivity of metal-ligand multiply bonded (MLMB) complexes to access an exclusively bimetallic reaction pathway for C-H bond functionalization. To this end, the diiron alkoxide [Fe(Dbf)] () was treated with 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl azide to access the diiron imido complex [Fe(Dbf)(μ-NCHF)] () that promotes hydrogen atom abstraction (HAA) from a variety of C-H and O-H bond containing substrates. A diiron bis(amide) complex [Fe(Dbf)(μ-NHCHF)(NHCHF)] () was generated, prompting the isolation of the analogous bridging amide terminal alkoxide [Fe(Dbf)(μ-NHCHF)(OCH)] () and the asymmetric pyridine-bound diiron imido [Fe(Dbf)(μ-NCHF)(NCH)] ().

Achieving axially chiral biaryl dialdehydes through asymmetric catalysis remains significantly challenging due to the lack of efficient strategies. In this report, we developed a rhodium-catalyzed enantioselective C-H amidation through chiral transient directing group strategy. With this new approach, a series of axially chiral amido dialdehydes were achieved in up to 86% yields with 99.

Introduction: Quinazoline holds significant importance in pharmaceutical chemistry, which is included in a range of drugs, clinical contenders, and bioactive compounds. N-contain-ing heterocyclic compounds of quinazoline have a wide and distinct range of biopharmaceutical activities.
Methods: A series of newly synthesized heterocyclic compounds, namely, N-(4-substituted ben-zylidene)-2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-6-methylquinazolin-3(4H)-amines (3a'-3e') and N-(4-substi-tuted benzylidene)-2-(2-aminooxazol-4-yl)-6-methylquinazolin-3(4H)-amines (3a-3e), were synthesized starting from 6-methylquinazolin-3(4H)-amine and 4-substituted benzaldehyde and their antibacterial and antifungal properties were evaluated.
