Background: Dry January is a one-month alcohol abstinence challenge for the general population running since 2013 in the United Kingdom, and 2020 in France. Dry January has gained increasing popularity among the public, but studies assessing the individual characteristics associated with awareness and participation remain sparse.
Methods: Using quota sampling, a representative sample of 5,000 French adults completed an online cross-sectional survey between 8 and 17th January 2024.

Alcohol consumption is a major public health issue. Patients with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) can benefit from five treatments that preferentially target membrane receptors, and whose efficacy is generally modest. However, a large body of experimental evidence points to an important role for epigenetics in the effects of alcohol consumption, and epidrugs that modify the epigenome offer an interesting alternative to current therapeutic options.

Ever since 2018 France has been the only country to approve the gamma aminobutyric acid type B (GABA-B) receptor agonist baclofen for alcohol dependence. This authorization follows a ten-year period of intensive off-label use during which baclofen was used in doses of up to 300 and even 400mg per day to support the gradual reduction of alcohol consumption in patients suffering from alcohol dependence. However, in international clinical trials, baclofen has mainly been studied to support the maintenance of abstinence.

Background & Aims: There is limited understanding of the benefits of alcohol rehabilitation after alcohol hepatitis (AH).
Methods: We conducted a 2012 to 2021 national longitudinal study involving adult inpatients diagnosed with AH in France. We assessed the primary outcome of liver transplantation or death within 1 year after AH, including in its complicated form (CAH) defined as ≥2 hepatic or extrahepatic complications within 4 weeks after AH.

Background: Cognitive impairments are common in patients with AUD and worsen the prognosis of addiction management. There are no clear guidelines for screening cognitive impairments in hospitalized patients with AUD.
Methods: Fifty-seven patients with an AUD history who were admitted to an acute hospital and assessed by the addiction care team were included.
