[Professionals in the care of the end of life: plurality of postures.].

Recenti Prog Med

January 2025

Istituto Giano per le medical humanities.

Deciding what type of health professional to be: the postural profile that is assumed in the care relationship is born from this challenge. These postures have a profound impact on the way in which care for the patient and end-of-life decisions will be developed. Broadly speaking, we can distinguish five macro postural profiles: the scientistic posture (the natural sciences are the only guide for the professional); the vitalist posture (the goal of saving the patient's life at all costs); the specialist posture (fragmentation of care managed by multiple specialists); the philanthropic posture (in which empathetic closeness to the patient prevails); the conversational posture (care "with" the patient, not "on" him).

Aims: Trauma & Orthopaedic (T&O) surgery has come under scrutiny for lagging behind other medical specialties in promoting gender and cultural equity and diversity within their workforce. The aim of this study is to report the findings of a national workforce survey of demographics and working patterns within T&O in Scotland.

Three-dimensional (3D) LiDAR is crucial for the autonomous navigation of orchard mobile robots, offering comprehensive and accurate environmental perception. However, the increased richness of information provided by 3D LiDAR also leads to a higher computational burden for point cloud data processing, posing challenges to real-time navigation. To address these issues, this paper proposes a 3D point cloud optimization method based on the octree data structure for autonomous navigation of orchard mobile robots.

The "best practices for farming" successfully contributed to decrease the antibiotic resistance gene abundances within dairy farms.

Front Vet Sci

January 2025

Laboratory of Microbial Ecology and Genomics, Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie, Legnaro, Italy.

Introduction: Farms are significant hotspots for the dissemination of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and genes (ARGs) into the environment and directly to humans. The prevalence of ARGs on farms underscores the need for effective strategies to reduce their spread. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a guideline on "best practices for farming" aimed at reducing the dissemination of antibiotic resistance.
