Background: Dilaceration is a rare dental developmental anomaly characterized by an abrupt deviation along the longitudinal axis of the root in which an angulation forms between the root and the crown. Here, we report on dilacerated bilateral maxillary central incisors in mixed dentition.

Case Summary: A 10-year-old girl presented with a chief complaint of unerupted central incisors. An oral examination and radiography provided the basis for a diagnosis of dilaceration of the maxillary central incisors. After surgical exposure of the impacted teeth, a button with an attached chain was applied to the palatal surface of teeth 11 and 21. After 8 mo, a button was bonded to the labial surface of the crown to fix an elastic chain and move the teeth toward the maxillary arch. Finally, a fixed appliance was applied to tooth alignment to Class 1 malocclusion using a 0.019 × 0.025-inch nickel-titanium wire. After 3 years of follow-up, the clinical findings and radiographic assessment showed that the roots had developed with vital dental pulp and healthy periodontium, were acceptable aesthetically, and showed no resorption.

Conclusion: The rare occurrences of dilacerated bilateral maxillary central incisors can be successfully treated through surgical exposure and orthodontics.

Objective: This study aimed to assess and compare the internal fit of custom-made posts and cores fabricated using digital impressions (DI) and conventional vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) impressions in restorative dentistry.

Materials And Methods: A typodont tooth model, simulating the anatomy of the root canal of a central incisor, was utilized for the study. Two groups were formed, Group A and Group B, and each group provided a total of 18 impressions of two types: DIs and VPS impressions.

The Perception of Unilateral Recessions in the Maxillary Esthetic Zone: A Survey Among Dentists and Non-Professionals.

J Esthet Restor Dent

December 2024

Head Prosthodontics, Akademie für Orale Implantologie (Academy for Oral Implantology), Vienna, Austria.

Statement Of Problem: Esthetic dental features, especially the maxillary anterior teeth, significantly influence perceived attractiveness. Gingival recessions can negatively affect smile esthetics, particularly when asymmetrical.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the perception of dentists and non-professionals regarding subtle variations in the apically displaced soft tissue surrounding a lateral or central incisor.

Purpose: To investigate the changes of root development before and after orthodontic traction of maxillary inverted impacted central incisors using CBCT and Mimics software.

Methods: Ten patients, who had a maxillary inverted impacted central incisor, were treated using a modified movable retractor combined with surgical eruption. Cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT) was taken before and after treatment.

Background: This study evaluates the fracture resistance of apical plugs created from Biodentine and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) in thicknesses of 3 and 5 mm within simulated open apex tooth models.

Methods: Fifty human maxillary central incisors were obtained from a pool of freshly extracted teeth. In order to replicate open apices without cavity preparation, ten teeth in the control group received apical-to-coronal preparation with Peeso reamers.
