Understanding the drivers of invasive species' success is essential for predicting and managing their ecological impacts. , a South American species first recorded in Bucharest in 2015, is currently expanding into urban and peri-urban areas of Romania, raising concerns about its invasive potential. This study provides a comprehensive assessment of its invasiveness by integrating species distribution modeling, a reproductive trait analysis, and morpho-structural evaluations.

In this publication various serum biochemistry and haematology parameters were determined from blood samples obtained from captive adult individuals of an exotic quail species, the mountain quail (Oreortyx pictus, Douglas, 1829). Venipuncture was performed in the second half of the breeding season from six roosters (males) and seven hens (females). During the examination, in addition to the haematological elements, basic parameters of serum enzyme levels, the products of protein metabolism, uric acid and the most important ions were monitored.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients often experience reduced physical activity, sleep disturbances, and cognitive impairment. However, reports on measurement of rest-activity rhythm and sleep-wake behavior and their impact on cognitive functions in COPD patients are limited. This study aimed to objectively measure circadian rhythms (rest-activity and ambient illuminance) and sleep behaviors in clinically stable COPD patients and their relationship with cognitive functions.

Sepsis remains a leading cause of mortality among pregnant and recently pregnant patients, rendering it a subject of vital importance to emergency clinicians in the US. However, death by sepsis has been found to be largely preventable with prompt and appropriate intervention. This narrative review provides a summary of the physiologic, epidemiologic, and systemic factors specific to obstetric sepsis that contribute to delays in diagnosis and treatment.

In a rapidly changing thermal environment, reptiles are primarily dependent on in situ adaptation because of their limited ability to disperse and the restricted opportunity to shift their ranges. However, the rapid pace of climate change may surpass these adaptation capabilities or elevate energy expenditures. Therefore, understanding the variability in thermal traits at both individual and population scales is crucial, offering insights into reptiles' vulnerability to climate change.
