Monitoring nutrients in the soil can provide valuable information for understanding their spatiotemporal variability and informing precise soil management. Here, we describe an autonomous analyzer for the real-time monitoring of nitrate in soil. The analyzer can sample soil nitrate using either microdialysis or ultrafiltration probes placed within the soil and quantify soil nitrate using droplet microfluidics and colorimetric measurement. Compared with traditional manual sampling and lab analysis, the analyzer features low reagent consumption (96 μL per measurement), low maintenance requirement (monthly), and high measurement frequency (2 or 4 measurements per day), providing nondrifting lab-quality data with errors of less than 10% using a microdialysis probe and 2-3% for ultrafiltration. The analyzer was deployed at both the campus garden and forest for different periods of time, being able to capture changes in free nitrate levels in response to manual perturbation by the addition of nitrate standard solutions and natural perturbation by rainfall events.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of bioactive toothpastes in remineralizing eroded enamel surfaces in vitro. Bovine enamel blocks (n = 48) were obtained and classified into untreated, demineralized, and treated areas. Specimens were randomly classified into six groups (n = 8 each): fluoride-free toothpaste (NCT), Colgate Total 12 (PCT), Sensodyne Repair and Protect (SRP), Sensodyne Pronamel (SPE), Regenerador + Sensitive (RGS), and RGS/calcium booster (RCB).

Background: Nitrogen (N) deposition has become a major driving factor affecting the balance of terrestrial ecosystems, changing the soil environment, element balance and species coexistence relationships, driving changes in biodiversity and ecosystem structure and function. Human-induced nitrogen input leads to a high NH/ NO ratio in soil. However, relatively few studies have investigated the effects of different nitrogen sources on forest plant-microbial symbionts.

The removal of toxic nitrophenols from the industrial wastewater is urgently needed from health, environmental and economic aspects. The present study deals with the synthesis of crosslinked vinyl polymer Poly(divinylbenzene) (poly(DVB)) through free radical polymerization technique using AIBN as initiator and acetonitrile as solvent. The prepared polymer was used as a support for silver nanoparticles via chemical reduction of silver nitrate on the polymer network.

Temperature-dependent rate constants for the reaction of the -dodecane radical cation (RH˙) with trivalent lanthanide ion-complexed ,,','-tetraoctyl diglycolamide (TODGA) over the range 10-40 °C have been determined using electron pulse radiolysis/transient absorption spectroscopy techniques. For the free ligand, an activation energy of = 20.4 ± 0.
