Unlabelled: Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a rare critical congenital heart defect constituting a prevalence of 1/3,500 to 1/12,500 live births in which there is obstructions to the blood flow within the left heart. Here we present a case of a full-term 38 weeks male baby with a birth weight of 3.5 kg, and no obvious physical deformity referred to our centre at 22 hours of life for respiratory distress and cyanosis. At 23 hours of life, he was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and kept on Prostaglandin E1 infusion till the 12th day of life. The baby had a large ventricular septal defect and atrial septal defect with a severely hypoplastic left ventricle, hypoplastic aortic root, ascending aorta and post-ductal coarctation of the aorta. The diagnosis was reconfirmed by computed tomography cardiac angiography on the 10th day of life with the same cardiac findings suggestive of hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Purpose: To describe a case in which a right replaced posterior cerebral artery (PCA) was associated with an ipsilateral superior cerebellar artery (SCA) type persistent trigeminal artery (PTA) variant.
Methods: A 53-year-old man who had been diagnosed with chronic dissection of the left vertebral artery (VA) 4 months previously underwent follow-up magnetic resonance (MR) angiography using a 3-Tesla scanner.
Results: MR angiography showed a slightly dilated left VA at the terminal segment without interval change.

Archived FFPE cardiac tissue specimens are valuable for molecular studies aimed at identifying biomarkers linked to mortality in cardiovascular disease. Establishing a reliable and reproducible RNA extraction method is critical for generating high-quality transcriptome sequences for molecular assays. Here, the efficiency of four RNA extraction methods: Qiagen AllPrep DNA/RNA method (Method QP); Qiagen AllPrep DNA/RNA method with protocol modification on the ethanol wash step after deparaffinization (Method QE); CELLDATA RNA extraction (Method BP) and CELLDATA RNA extraction with protocol modifications on the lysis step (Method BL) was compared on 23 matching FFPE cardiac tissue specimens (n = 92).

The cerebral arterial circle morphologic variability has been extensively studied. The posterior cerebral artery (PCA) variants are rarely identified, except from the first segment (P1) hypoplasia or absence. Due to its unique morphology, the computed tomography angiography (CTA) of a 34-year-old female patient was further investigated.

Background: Children with univentricular heart (UVH) have a limited life expectancy without early treatment. Long-term survival in UVH, in an unselected nationwide cohort, is unclear.
Objectives: To determine long-term survival in patients with UVH including non-operated patients compared with a control population in Sweden.
