Background: The risk and timing of permanent pacemaker implantation (PPMI) after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is still hard to predict. We aimed to analyze the relationship between the compression ratio of a self-expandable valve (SEV) and the need for PPMI after TAVR.
Methods: A total of 106 patients who were implanted with the VitaFlow transcatheter aortic valve system and for whom complete imaging information was available were included in this retrospective cohort study. Eight lines perpendicular to the long axis of the SEV were drawn (the top and bottom of the SEV and the intersection of each row of wires) for measurement purposes. The compression ratio was calculated as 1 - (in vivo meridian/in vitro meridian) and compared between patients undergoing and those not undergoing PPMI after adjusting for implantation depth. Multivariable logistic regression and Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess factors associated with the risk and timing of the need for PPMI.
Results: Fifteen (14.2%) patients underwent PPMI after TAVR. Patients with a higher mean compression ratio (20%, odds ratio [OR] = 214.82; p < 0.001) and prior right bundle branch block (OR = 51.77; p = 0.015) had a higher risk of the need for PPMI after TAVR. These two factors were also associated with the timing of PPMI, according to the Cox proportional hazards model.
Conclusions: The compression ratio of the SEV was positively associated with the risk of PPMI after TAVR, and the association was most significant in the annular and supravalvular planes. The compression ratio may also affect the time to PPMI.

Objective: The study aims to elucidate clinical and ultrasonographic characteristics of female patients diagnosed with pelvic varicose veins (PVV) and to assess potential risk factors associated with incidences of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in this population.
Methods: Clinical and ultrasound data were retrospectively collected from female patients with PVV at Beijing Shijitan Hospital between December 2017 and October 2022. Patient cohorts were divided into two groups based on whether they had been experiencing non-periodic pelvic pain over six months, consistent with the symptoms of CPP.

Cine-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to track respiratory-induced motion of the liver and tumor and assist in the accurate delineation of tumor volume. Recent developments in compressed sensitivity encoding (SENSE; CS) have accelerated temporal resolution while maintaining contrast resolution. This study aimed to develop and assess hepatobiliary phase (HBP) cine-MRI scans using CS.

This study presents a new approach for fabricating 3D-printed self-healing hydrogels via light-assisted 3D printing, utilizing Schiff-base and covalent bonding formations resulting from the reaction between amine and aldehyde functional groups alongside the photopolymerization of methacrylate groups. Two distinct polymers, carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs) and dextran, were first modified to yield methacrylate-modified carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs-MA) and oxidized dextran (OD). The structural modifications of these polymers were confirmed using spectroscopic techniques, including H NMR and FTIR analyses.

Coal gangue (CG) is an industrial solid waste produced by coal mining and separation that is considered to have a significant effect on the soil or water environment when exposed to the air, exacerbating ecological pollution. The comprehensive utilization of CG has always been a difficult problem due to the complex mineralogical characteristics. Producing concrete aggregates with CG is an effective strategy for utilising CG resources synthetically.

This study explores the impact of metallic shells by electroforming method on the mechanical behavior of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)-based lattice structures. First, the TPU lattice structures were printed by additive manufacturing technique. Then layers of Ni and Cu as a thin shell were dressed on the TPU lattice structures in the electroforming baths of Ni and Cu solutions.
