Introduction And Importance: Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) of the spleen is a rare entity that can be difficult distinguishing it from malignancies, both in clinical presentation and radiological imaging.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a 43-year-old female presented with 15-cm left hypochondrial mass, Initial imaging studies raised concerns of malignancy, leading to a splenectomy. However, the final pathological examination determined that the patient had IPT of the spleen with focal expression of Smooth Muscle Antibody (SMA).
Clinical Discussion: This case highlights the importance of considering IPT as a potential diagnosis of splenic masses that was difficult to diagnose before surgery.
Conclusion: The uniqueness of the case under consideration lies in the rarity and the atypical localization of IPT of the spleen.

A splenic inflammatory pseudotumour (IPT) is a rare condition in which inflammatory cells and non-cancerous specialised cells known as myofibroblasts abnormally replicate in the spleen. Patients with IPT may experience symptoms like abdominal pain, fever and weight loss, making it difficult to distinguish from processes like cancer. As a result, diagnosing IPT often requires imaging studies and microscopic examination.

Objective: This study aimed to outline the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (IPT-like FDCS) in the spleen and to link these imaging features with histopathological findings.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 11 patients (3 males, 8 females; mean age, 63.3 ± 9.

The baseline inflammatory microenvironment in various organs of patients, which is shaped by pre-existing conditions and circulating drugs at the time before viral antigen exposure, may affect the severity of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) infection and the nature of its complications. Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) of the spleen may represent one such complication that merits further investigation. We describe the case of a patient, who was under long-term treatment with a tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi), for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and developed an inflammatory mass in the spleen, accompanied by systemic manifestations.

Inflammatory pseudotumors (IPTs) of the spleen are rare and have often been reported to be associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Radiographically differentiating IPTs of the spleen from other malignant tumors is challenging, and splenectomy is often performed as a definitive treatment. We report a case of an EBV-associated splenic IPT in a male patient in his 70s.
