Background: To investigate the effect of postoperative supplementary parenteral nutrition (SPN) containing varying energy intake levels during the early postoperative period on the clinical outcomes of patients diagnosed with gastric cancer.
Methods: Data from 237 patients, who were diagnosed with gastric cancer between January 2016 and June 2022, were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into 2 groups based on mean daily SPN energy intake: low (L-SPN; < 20 kcal/kg/day); and high (H-SPN; ≥ 20 kcal/kg/day).

Sterile inflammation has been increasingly recognized as a hallmark of non-infectious kidney diseases. Induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines in injured kidney tissue promotes infiltration of immune cells serving to clear cell debris and facilitate tissue repair. However, excessive or prolonged inflammatory response has been associated with immune-mediated tissue damage, nephron loss, and development of renal fibrosis.

TLR4 stands at the forefront of innate immune responses, recognizing various pathogen- associated molecular patterns and endogenous ligands, thus serving as a pivotal mediator in the immune system's defense against infections and tissue damage. Beyond its canonical role in infection, emerging evidence highlights TLR4's involvement in numerous non-infectious human diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders to neurodegenerative conditions and cancer. Targeting TLR4 signaling pathways presents a promising therapeutic approach with broad applicability across these diverse pathological states.

Bacteria communicate through the accumulation of autoinducer (AI) molecules that regulate gene expression at critical densities in a process called quorum sensing (QS). Extensive work using simple systems and single strains of bacteria have revealed a role for QS in the regulation of virulence factors and biofilm formation; however, less is known about QS dynamics among communities, especially in vivo. In this review, we summarize the diversity of QS signals as well as their ability to influence "non-target" behaviors among species that have receptors but not synthases for those signals.

Objective: To investigate the structural and functional characteristics of the carotid and vertebral arteries and their relationship with tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) levels in patients with chronic non-infectious diseases (CNIDs), considering sex differences.
Unlabelled: Material and Methods. A retrospective analysis of clinical and laboratory data of 760 patients with chronic non-communicable diseases (average age 52.
