To preserve the integrity of their genome, bacteria rely on several genome maintenance mechanisms that are co-ordinated with the cell cycle. All members of the family have a bipartite genome consisting of a primary chromosome (Chr1) homologous to the single chromosome of other bacteria such as and a secondary chromosome (Chr2) acquired by a common ancestor as a plasmid. In this review, we present our current understanding of genome maintenance in , which is the best-studied model for bacteria with multi-partite genomes. After a brief overview on the diversity of genomic architecture, we describe the specific, common, and co-ordinated mechanisms that control the replication and segregation of the two chromosomes of . Particular attention is given to the unique checkpoint mechanism that synchronizes Chr1 and Chr2 replication.

The tomato Ty-6 gene conferring resistance against begomoviruses has been cloned and shown to be a variant of DNA polymerase delta subunit 1. Ty-6 is a major resistance gene of tomato that provides resistance against monopartite and bipartite begomoviruses. The locus was previously mapped on chromosome 10, and in this study, we fine-mapped Ty-6 to a region of 47 kb, including four annotated candidate genes.

The bipartite GAL4/UAS system is the most widely used method for targeted gene expression in and facilitates rapid genetic experimentation. Defining precise gene expression patterns for tissues and/or cell types under GAL4 control will continue to evolve to suit experimental needs. However, the precise spatial and temporal expression patterns for some commonly used muscle tissue promoters are still unclear.

Background: Sleep is essential to maintaining health and wellbeing of individuals, influencing a variety of outcomes from mental health to cardiometabolic disease. This study aims to assess the relationships between various sleep-related phenotypes and blood metabolites.
Methods: Utilising data from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos, we performed association analyses between 40 sleep-related phenotypes, grouped in several domains (sleep disordered breathing (SDB), sleep duration, sleep timing, self-reported insomnia symptoms, excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), and heart rate during sleep), and 768 metabolites measured via untargeted metabolomics profiling.

Adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) are the most extensively researched viral vectors for gene therapy globally. The AAV viral protein 1 (VP1) N-terminus controls the capsid's ability to translocate into the cell nucleus; however, the exact mechanism of this process is largely unknown. In this study, we sought to elucidate the precise interactions between AAV serotype 6 (AAV6), a promising vector for immune disorders, and host transport receptors responsible for vector nuclear localization.
