As one kind of approximation of the full configuration interaction solution, the selected configuration interaction (sCI) methods have been shown to be valuable for large active spaces. However, the inclusion of dynamic correlation beyond large active spaces is necessary for more quantitative results. Since the sCI wave function can provide a compact reference for multireference methods, previously, we proposed an externally contracted multireference configuration interaction method using the sCI reference reconstructed from the density matrix renormalization group wave function [ 4747-4755]. The DMRG2sCI-EC-MRCI method is promising for dealing with more than 30 active orbitals and large basis sets. However, it suffers from two drawbacks: spin contamination and low efficiency when using Slater determinant bases. To solve these problems, in this work, we adopt configuration state function bases and introduce a new algorithm based on the hybrid of tree structure for convenient configuration space management and the graphical unitary group approach for efficient matrix element calculation. The test calculation of naphthalene shows that the spin-adapted version could achieve a speed-up of 6.0 compared with the previous version based on the Slater determinant. Examples of dinuclear copper(II) compound as well as Ln(III) and An(III) complexes show that the sCI-EC-MRCI can give quantitatively accurate results by including dynamic correlation over sCI for systems with large active spaces and basis sets.

We propose and demonstrate a data-driven plasmonic metascreen that efficiently absorbs incident light over a wide spectral range in an ultra-thin silicon film. By embedding a double-nanoring silver array within a 20 nm ultrathin amorphous silicon (a-Si) layer, we achieve a significant enhancement of light absorption. This enhancement arises from the interaction between the resonant cavity modes and localized plasmonic modes, requiring precise tuning of plasmon resonances to match the absorption region of the silicon active layer.

Fucosylated chondroitin sulfate (FCS) from Holothuria mexicana (FCS) was selected for investigation because of its intriguing branch features. Selective β-eliminative depolymerization and the bottom-up assembly were performed to unravel that FCS consisted of a {D-GlcA-β1,3-D-GalNAc} backbone and branches of alternating Fuc (55 %) and D-GalNAc-α1,2-L-Fuc (45 %), the highest proportion of disaccharide branch reported to date. In branches, sulfation could occur at every free -OH site except O-3 of GalNAc, being the most complex and various structure features of natural FCS.

A generalized extraction procedure for magnetic interactions using effective Hamiltonians is presented that is applicable to systems with more than two sites featuring local spins ≥ 1. To this end, closed, nonrecursive expressions pertaining to chains of arbitrary equal spins are derived with the graphical method of angular momentum. The method is illustrated by extracting magnetic couplings from ab initio calculations on a [CaMnO] cubane.

Two 3D/2D anionic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), [Cu(HL)] () and [Mn(L)(DMF)] ( (DMF = ,-dimethylformamide), were synthesized by the solvothermal reaction of metal salts and 5'-(4-carboxyphenyl)-2',4',6'-triethyl-[1,1':3',1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-dicarboxylic acid (HL). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that complex shows three-dimensional (3D) frameworks with a (3,6)-connected 3-fold interpenetrated topology with the Schläfli symbols of {4.6}{4.

Aims: Mutations in the cardiac ryanodine receptor (RyR2) are associated with catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). This study investigates the underlying molecular mechanisms for CPVT mutations within the RyR2 N-terminus domain (NTD).

Methods And Results: We consulted the high-resolution RyR2 structure in both open and closed configuration to identify mutations G357S/R407I and A77T, which lie within the NTD intra- and inter-subunit interface with the Core Solenoid (CSol), respectively.
