Organic Mixed Conductors for Neural Biomimicry and Biointerfacing.

Annu Rev Chem Biomol Eng

January 2025

Laboratory of Organic Electronics, Department of Science and Technology, Linköping University, Norrköping, Sweden; email:

Organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs) could revolutionize bioelectronics by enabling seamless integration with biological systems. This review explores their role in neural biomimicry and biointerfacing, with a focus on how backbone design, sidechain optimization, and antiambipolarity impact performance. Recent advances highlight OMIECs' biocompatibility and mechanical compliance, making them ideal for bioelectronic applications.

ConspectusZinc metal batteries (ZMBs) appear to be promising candidates to replace lithium-ion batteries owing to their higher safety and lower cost. Moreover, natural reserves of Zn are abundant, being approximately 300 times greater than those of Li. However, there are some typical issues impeding the wide application of ZMBs.

Conservative Approach to Treatment of Cyclosporine-Induced Gingival Hyperplasia With Azithromycin and Chlorhexidine.

Cutis

December 2024

Dr. Krevh is from the College of Medicine, Northeast Ohio Medical University, Rootstown. Dr. Korman is from the Department of Dermatology, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.

Treatment of symptomatic cyclosporine-induced gingival hyperplasia can be challenging, especially if continued use of cyclosporine is necessary for adequate control of the underlying disease. We outline a simplified approach for conservatively managing cyclosporine-induced gingival hyperplasia using azithromycin and chlorhexidine.

Landau-Levich Scaling for Optimization of Quantum Dot Layer Morphology and Thickness in Quantum-Dot Light-Emitting Diodes.

ACS Nano

January 2025

Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Lehigh University, 124 E. Morton Street, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18015, United States.

Quantum dot (QD) light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) are promising candidates for next-generation displays because of their high efficiency, brightness, broad color gamut, and solution-processability. Large-scale solution-processing of electroluminescent QLEDs poses significant challenges, particularly concerning the precise control of the active layer's thickness and uniformity. These obstacles directly impact charge transport, leading to current leakage and reduced overall efficiency.
