Background: is commonly known as air potato present in the tropical and subtropical regions. It is a perennial climber traditionally used for various therapeutic purposes by traditional healers. This review explores various medicinal uses of and its active ingredients, as well as describes its nanoparticle synthesis for medical applications.
Methods: The Google Scholar search engine was used to conduct this comprehensive review along with the databases of the following publishers: Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis, Bentham, and PubMed.
Discussion: contains several bioactive compounds that are responsible for its pharmacological properties, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anticancer, and antidiabetic properties. It is also used as a nutritive functional food. -mediated nanoparticle synthesis has been established by the scientific communities for various medicinal applications.
Conclusion: contains numerous active ingredients, including diosbulbins, bafoudiosbulbin, β-sitosterol, diosgenin, dioscin, pennogenin, myricetin, quercetin, and stigmasterols with numerous biological activities. In addition, it has a vital role in synthesizing nanoparticles with good pharmacological applications, especially in drug delivery systems. However, its potential characteristic features and functional properties of the active molecules present in this tuber need to be further explored in clinical trials. We suggest that using this edible tuber, we may formulate the valueadded food with good medicinal applications.

In the central nervous system, apolipoprotein (APO) E-containing high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-like particles mediate the transport of glial-derived cholesterol to neurons, which is essential for neuronal membrane remodeling and maintenance of the myelin sheath. Despite this, the role of HDL-like cholesterol trafficking on Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis remains poorly understood. We aimed to examine cholesterol transport via HDL-like particles in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of AD patients compared to control individuals.

In this study, a nanocomposite based on copper oxide-zinc oxide nanoparticles and Gum Arabic (GA@CuO-ZnO nanocomposite) was successfully synthesized using green method. Characterization results revealed that the prepared nanocomposite appeared at the nanoscale level, showed excellent dispersion, and formed stable colloidal nano-solutions. The bimetallic GA@CuO-ZnO nanocomposite was evaluated for its anticancer, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.

The synthesis of mesoporous metal-organic frameworks (meso-MOFs) is desirable as these materials can be used in various applications. However, owing to the imbalance in structural tension at the micro-scale (MOF crystallization) and the meso-scales (assembly of micelles with MOF subunits), the formation of single-crystal meso-MOFs is challenging. Here we report the preparation of uniform single-crystal meso-MOF nanoparticles with ordered mesopore channels in microporous frameworks with definite arrangements, through a cooperative assembly method co-mediated by strong and weak acids.
