Published: February 2024

Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder. Considering the pivotal role of epigenetics in neurodevelopment, we examined any altered DNA methylation between DLD and control subjects. We looked into genome-wide methylation differences between DLD and control groups. The findings were validated by quantitative PCR (qPCR). In the DLD group, differential methylation of CpG sites was observed in the Wnt signaling regulator genes , , , , , , and . Hypomethylation of , and was confirmed by qPCR. This is the first report associating Wnt signaling with DLD. The findings are relevant in the light of the essential role of Wnt in myelination, and of the altered myelination in DLD.

WNT4 promotes the symmetric fission of crypt in radiation-induced intestinal epithelial regeneration.

Cell Mol Biol Lett

December 2024

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Diseases, Guangdong Institute of Gastroenterology, The Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, People's Republic of China.

Background: Radiotherapy for pelvic malignant tumors inevitably causes intestinal tissue damage. The regeneration of intestinal epithelium after radiation injury relies mainly on crypt fission. However, little is known about the regulatory mechanisms of crypt fission events.

Wnt/β-catenin and Notch Signaling Pathways in Cardiovascular Disease: Mechanisms and Therapeutics Approaches.

Wnt and Notch signaling pathways play crucial roles in the development and homeostasis of the cardiovascular system. These pathways regulate important cellular processes in cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells, which are the key cell types involved in the structure and function of the heart and vasculature. During embryonic development, Wnt and Notch signaling coordinate cell fate specification, proliferation, differentiation, and morphogenesis of the heart and blood vessels.

Experimental Center for Research, School of Public Health and Key Laboratory of Public Health Safety, Ministry of Education, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China. Electronic address:

Cadmium (Cd) is a highly toxic metal in human body, and therefore understanding the immunotoxicity of Cd is significant for public health. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) in regulating the immunotoxicity of Cd. After exposure to 10 ppm Cd via drinking water for up to 9 months, C57BL/6 mice had a suppressed adaptive immune system at day 135 but had an enhanced adaptive immune system at day 270 during Cd exposure.

Electronic address:

Disulfiram (DSF), primarily applied in the therapy for alcohol addiction, has been demonstrated to possess the promising capability of anti-tumor in many human cancers, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). To date, almost all studies about DSF in ESCC are focusing on investigating either drug combinations or nanoparticle-based delivery systems. However, the exact molecular mechanisms mediating the response to DSF in ESCC are totally unknown.

Electronic address:

Healing of diabetic wounds is significantly impeded by a complex environment comprising biofilm formation, excessive inflammation, and compromised angiogenic capacity, leading to a disordered physiological healing process. Restoration and maintenance of a normal and orderly healing process in diabetic wounds remain unmet therapeutic objectives. Herein, an innovative bimetal-phenolic network hydrogel system is designed with a concentric circular structure, enabling dual-drug delivery with differentiated release kinetics.
