Photocatalytic O reduction is an intriguing approach to producing HO, but its efficiency is often hindered by the limited solubility and mass transfer of O in the aqueous phase. Here, we design and fabricate a two-layered (2L) Janus fiber membrane photocatalyst with asymmetric hydrophobicity for efficient photocatalytic HO production. The top layer of the membrane consists of superhydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibers with a dispersed modified carbon nitride (mCN) photocatalyst. Amphiphilic Nafion (Naf) ionomer is sprayed onto this layer to modulate the microenvironment and achieve moderate hydrophobicity. In contrast, the bottom layer consists of bare PTFE fibers with high hydrophobicity. The elaborate structural configuration and asymmetric hydrophobicity feature of the optimized membrane photocatalyst (designated as 2L-mCN/F-Naf; F, PTFE) allow most mCN to be exposed with gas-liquid-solid triple-phase interfaces and enable rapid mass transfer of gaseous O within the hierarchical membrane, thus increasing the local O concentration near the mCN photocatalyst. As a result, the optimized 2L-mCN/F-Naf membrane photocatalyst shows remarkable photocatalytic HO production activity, achieving a rate of 5.38 mmol g h under visible light irradiation.

The aim of the present work is to investigate the photocatalytic degradation of propyl paraben (propyl para-hydroxybenzoate, PrP) using CuO-ZnO-NPs photocatalyst followed by the identification of the oxidation by-products. The CuO-ZnO-NPs material, synthesized using a green chemistry approach, was used as a photocatalyst for the removal of PrP. The nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, XRF, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, ATG/DTG, FTIR, SEM-EDX, BET and FRX techniques.

Cu2O has attracted significant attention as a potential photocatalyst for CO2 reduction. However, its practical use is limited by rapid charge recombination, insufficient catalytic sites, and poor stability. In this study, we report a facile synthesis of Cu2O@BiOCl core-shell hybrids with well-defined shape of Cu2O and two-dimensional nanosheet structure of BiOCl.
