New sequential injection analysis (SIA) methods with optical sensing for the determination of -acetyl-L-cysteine ethyl ester (NACET) have been developed and optimized. NACET is a potential drug and antioxidant with advantageous pharmacokinetics. The methods involve the reduction of Cu(II) in its complexes with neocuproine (NCN), bicinchoninic acid (BCA), and bathocuproine disulfonic acid (BCS) to the corresponding chromophoric Cu(I) complexes by the analyte. The absorbance of the Cu(I) complexes with NCN, BCA, and BCS was measured at their maximum absorbance wavelengths of 458, 562, and 483 nm, respectively. The sensing manifold parameters and experimental conditions were optimized for each of the Cu(II) complexes used. Under optimal conditions, the corresponding linear calibration ranges, limits of detection, and sampling rates were 8.0 × 10-2.0 × 10 mol L, 5.5 × 10 mol L, and 60 h for NCN; 6.0 × 10-1.0 × 10 mol L, 5.2 × 10 mol L, and 60 h for BCA; and 4.0 × 10-1.0 × 10 mol L, 2.6 × 10 mol L, and 78 h for BCS. The Cu(II)-BCS complex was found to be best performing in terms of sensitivity and sampling rate. Usual excipients in pharmaceutical preparations did not interfere with NACET analysis.

Background: Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by dysfunction of motile cilia. While approximately 50 genes have been identified, around 25% of PCD patients remain genetically unexplained; elucidating the pathogenicity of specific variants remains a challenge.

Methods: Whole exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing were conducted to identify potential pathogenic variants of PCD.

This study systematically explores the oncogenic role of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00115 in endometrial cancer (EC) and reveals its unique mechanism in promoting proliferation, invasion, and metastasis via the JAK/STAT signaling pathway. LINC00115 is significantly upregulated in EC tissues and closely associated with advanced TNM staging and lymph node metastasis. Functional assays showed that knockdown of LINC00115 suppressed EC cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis, while overexpression enhanced these malignant behaviors.

In populations of small effective size (N), such as those in conservation programmes, companion animals or livestock species, inbreeding control is essential. Homozygosity-by-descent (HBD) segments provide relevant information in that context, as they allow accurate estimation of the inbreeding coefficient, provide locus-specific information and their length is informative about the "age" of inbreeding. Our objective was to evaluate tools for predicting HBD in future offspring based on parental genotypes, a problem equivalent to identifying segments identical-by-descent (IBD) among the four parental chromosomes.

The knowledge of "clinical molecular biology testing technology" is complex, conceptual expressions are abstract and difficult to understand, and the student's interest in learning is low. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a cyclic teaching method based on case analysis combined with an exploratory teaching method using mind mapping as an assignment. Students from the 2019 cohort of medical laboratory technology at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine served as the control group and received conventional lecture-based teaching methods.
