A coupling technology for lipid production and adsorption of rare earth elements (REEs) using microalgae was studied in this work. The microalgae cell growth, lipid production, biochemical parameters and lipid profiles were investigated under different REEs (Ce, Gdand La). The results showed that the maximum lipid production was achieved at different concentrations of REEs, with lipid productivities of 300.44, 386.84 and 292.19 mg L d under treatment conditions of 100 μg L Ce, 250 μg L Gd and 1 mg L La, respectively. Moreover, the adsorption efficiency of Ce, Gd and Laexceeded 96.58 %, 93.06 % and 91.3 % at concentrations of 25-1000 μg L, 100-500 μg L and 0.25-1 mg L, respectively. In addition, algal cells were able to adsorb 66.2 % of 100 μg L Ce, 48.4 % of 250 μg L Gd and 59.9 % of 1 mg L La. The combination of extracellular polysaccharide and algal cell wall could adsorb 25.2 % of 100 μg L Ce, 44.5 % of 250 μg L Gd and 30.5 % of 1 mg L La, respectively. These findings indicated that microalgae predominantly adsorbed REEs through the intracellular pathway. This study elucidates the mechanism of effective lipid accumulation and adsorption of REEs by microalgae under REEs stress conditions. It establishes a theoretical foundation for the efficient microalgae lipid production and REEs recovery from wastewater or waste residues containing REEs.

As people age, the efficiency of various regulatory processes that ensure proper communication between cells and organs tends to decline. This deterioration can lead to difficulties in maintaining homeostasis during physiological stress. This includes but is not limited to cognitive impairments, functional difficulties, and issues related to caregivers which contribute significantly to medication errors and non-adherence.

The mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) is the major channel in the mitochondrial outer membrane for metabolites and ions. VDACs also regulate a variety of biological processes, which vary in the number of VDAC isoforms across different eukaryotes. However, little is known about VDAC-mediated biocontrol traits in biocontrol fungi.

Introduction: mRNA therapeutics were a niche area in drug development before COVIDvaccines. Now they are used in vaccine development, for non-viral therapeuticgenome editing, chimericantigen receptor T (CAR T) celltherapies and protein replacement. mRNAis large, charged, and easily degraded by nucleases.

Background/objectives: In response to concerns about high-fat and low-fiber diets, this study modified a traditional brownie recipe by replacing butter with plant-based ingredients, including sweet potatoes, red beans, beetroot, zucchini, pumpkin, lentils, and spinach. The goal was to increase vegetable consumption while identifying the best vegetable fat replacer using sensory and instrumental analyses.
Methods: Chemical analyses were conducted to measure dry matter, protein, fat, ash, and dietary fiber, alongside texture, color, and sensory evaluations.
