Study of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) breeding material potential for in vitro androgenesis. | LitMetric

AI Article Synopsis

  • - Doubled haploid technology aids plant breeding by quickly producing homozygous lines through anther culture, allowing for efficient variety development.
  • - The study evaluated the androgenesis response of various wheat cultivars and F1/F2 hybrids from the Siberian Research Institute, focusing on factors such as new plant formations and regeneration success.
  • - Results indicated significant variability among genotypes, with Novosibirskaya 15 showing high responsiveness to anther culture, while Novosibirskaya 31 and 16 exhibited lower regeneration capabilities, highlighting the potential of Novosibirskaya 15 in future breeding programs.

Article Abstract

Doubled haploid technology is a valuable biotechnological approach in plant breeding that enables one to quickly create new varieties through the single-stage production of homozygous lines. The aim of this study was to assess the indicators of in vitro androgenesis in the anther culture of the initial breeding material of varieties and combinations of F1 and F2 and to identify promising accessions with good responsiveness. For that purpose, the plant material that proved promising for the breeding programs of Siberian Research Institute of Plant Production and Breeding (SibRIPP
