In this paper, a floatation-advanced oxidation two-step process was proposed for deep oil removal of oil-based drilling cuttings (OBDC). In the first stage, a novel and simple degreasing solution was prepared and most of the base oil contained by OBDC was removed by flotation; in the second stage, the oil content of OBDC was further reduced by combined ultrasound + ozone (US + O) advanced oxidation. The recommended degreasing solution was a mixture of methanol, ammonium chloride, and water with a mass ratio of 1.48.1 : 0.25. The best flotation process was as follows: a mass ratio of OBDC to degreasing solution of 1 : 10, stirring speed of 400 rpm and N flotation with a flow rate of 400 mL min for 60 min. The oil content of OBDC can be reduced from 14.57% to 1.42% after flotation treatment and the degreasing solution can be reused more than five times. The optimal process of US + O advanced oxidation was as follows: a mass ratio of OBDC to water of 1 : 10, ultrasonic power of 1000 W, and an ozone flow rate of 4.0 L min for 100 min. The oil content of OBDC can be reduced from 1.42% to 0.14% after US + O treatment at room temperature. The results of this paper provide a new method and idea for OBDC treatment.

Universidade Federal do Tocantins - UFT, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biodiversidade e Biotecnologia - BIONORTE, Palmas,TO, Brasil.

Parkia platycephala is the only species of the genus Parkia that is endemic to the brazilian Cerrado and the tree symbol of the state of Tocantins, but there are still few studies regarding its bioprospecting. In this study, we aimed to investigate the phytochemical composition, toxicity and bioactivities of the bark and flower of Parkia platycephala. Hot sequential extractions (Soxhlet) were performed using methanol and hydroethanolic solution (70%), after degreasing the sample (hexane).

Corrosion inhibitors represent one of the most commonly used methods for significantly reducing the corrosion rate of metals and alloys. Adsorption inhibitors have a wide range of applications in cooling water systems, deicing solutions for aircrafts, airports and ways, etching and degreasing solutions, oil pipelines, paints and coatings and metal processing solutions. Adsorption corrosion inhibitors of metals and alloys are generally organic compounds that contain structures with heteroatoms (N, P, S, As, O) in their molecules, having lone pair electrons or π electrons in aromatic rings or multiple bonds.

The main sources of vitamins, which are essential substances, are mainly aliment products, foods for special dietary uses and dietary supplements. Therefore, the study of the native content of vitamins in aliment foods has always been of interest. For the chromatographic separation of vitamins, rather versatile C18 columns are used as a stationary phase, which allow one to obtain reliable results using UV detection for vitamin-enriched foods, dietary supplements and vitamin premixes.

This study aimed to develop novel bio-nanofluids using extracts in synergy with nanoparticles of different chemical nature as a proposal sustainable for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications. For this, saponin-rich extracts (SRE) were obtained from fruit using ultrasound-assisted and Soxhlet extraction. The results revealed that Soxhlet is more efficient for obtaining SRE from and that degreasing does not generate additional yields.
