We present both experimental and simulation results for a fully etched, C-band GC fabricated in an 800 nm silicon nitride platform that significantly reduces backreflections. They are minimized by truncating the initial grates, which deflect reflected light at an oblique angle and excite higher-order modes in the tapered waveguide that is filtered out. Insertion losses resulting from this modification of the grating coupler are mitigated by an adaptive redesign of the grates that corrects incurred errors in the generated phase front.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), as a minimally invasive surgery strategy based on local thermal-killing effect, is widely used in the clinical treatment of multiple solid tumors. Nevertheless, RFA cannot achieve the complete elimination of tumor lesions with larger burden or proximity to blood vessels. Incomplete RFA (iRFA) has even been validated to promote residual tumor growth due to the suppressive tumor immune microenvironment (TIME).

Diamond particles have many interesting properties and possible applications. However, producing diamond particles with well-defined shapes on a large scale is challenging because diamonds are chemically inert and extremely hard. Here, we show that air oxidation, a routine method for purifying diamonds, can be used to precisely shape diamond particles at scale.

Clinical Considerations: Comprehensive treatment planning is crucial when executing a multidisciplinary workflow, with digital tools proving to be invaluable aids. In the present case, a digitally designed wax-up was employed to generate a digital surgical guide for reshaping the gingival architecture of a lateral incisor into that of a central incisor, followed by composite restorations.
