Phase-separated liposomes were used to formulate tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL), a protein that selectively kills cancer cells while sparing most healthy ones. By controlling the average number of TRAIL molecules per liposome, we demonstrate the ability to tune the formation of TRAIL clusters and their resulting apoptotic activity.

The performance of deep learning-based natural language processing systems is based on large amounts of labeled training data which, in the clinical domain, are not easily available or affordable. Weak supervision and in-context learning offer partial solutions to this issue, particularly using large language models (LLMs), but their performance still trails traditional supervised methods with moderate amounts of gold-standard data. In particular, inferencing with LLMs is computationally heavy.

Deoxyribose nucleic acid (DNA), a type of soft matter, is often considered a promising building block to fabricate and investigate hybrid heterostructures with exotic functionalities. However, at this stage, investigations on DNA-enabled nanoelectronics have been largely limited to zero-dimensional (0D) and/or one-dimensional (1D) structures. Exploring their potential in higher dimensions, particularly in combination with hard matter solids such as van der Waals (vdW) two-dimensional (2D) materials, has proven challenging.

Smoking is a major cause of premature and preventable death. Tobacco exposure has a detrimental effect on many organs and contributes to multiple diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. Cytokines are inflammatory biomarkers that are mechanistically associated with smoking.

The strict fidelity of many such interspecies associations is posited to hinge on sensory tuning to host-derived cues, a model supported by studies of neural function in host-specific model species. Here, we investigated the sensory basis of symbiotic interactions between a myrmecophile rove beetle and its single, natural host ant species.
