Increasing Social Determinants of Health Screening Rates Among Six Endocrinology Centers Across the United States: Results From the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative. | LitMetric
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are strongly associated with outcomes for people with type 1 diabetes. Six centers in the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative applied quality improvement principles to design iterative Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles to develop and expand interventions to improve SDOH screening rates. The interventions tested include staff training, a social risk index, an electronic health record patient-facing portal, partnerships with community organizations, and referrals to community resources. All centers were successful in improving SDOH screening rates, with individual site improvements ranging from 41 to 70% and overall screening across the six centers increasing from a baseline of 1% to 70% in 27 months.
Introduction: The aim of the study was to assess the etiological distribution of patients with an erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) over 100 mm/hour and to evaluate differences in demographic, comorbidity, laboratory characteristics, and clinical outcomes.
Methods: This retrospective observational clinical study included patients aged 18 years and older who were admitted to the internal medicine inpatient clinic between May 1, 2015 and June 1, 2021 and had ESR values above 100 mm/h. Demographic data, comorbidities, laboratory parameters, imaging studies, histopathological findings, microbiological and serological data, along with in-hospital and post-discharge mortality, were collected from the hospital's electronic database.
Introduction: Military body fat standards were implemented in the 1980s to prevent obesity and associated poor military readiness. In the past 2 decades, enforcement of existing Army body composition standards has been eroded by the steady increase in national obesity rates, the demand for new recruits especially during the 2007 surge in Iraq, and the COVID epidemic in 2020. The diminishing qualified recruit pool puts a new focus on accession standards.
Objective: The effectiveness and safety of the short-interfering RNA drug inclisiran in lowering patients' lipoprotein cholesterol levels to lower their risk of cardiovascular disease are presently being investigated. Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) specimens are histologically analyzed to identify incidental pathologies. However, no guidelines recommend routine histology. This study evaluates the clinical utility of LSG sample analysis and if incidental diagnoses have a significant clinical impact.
