Plants maintain nutrient homeostasis by controlling the activities and abundance of nutrient transporters. In Arabidopsis thaliana, the borate (B) transporter BOR1 plays a role in the efficient translocation of B under low-B conditions. BOR1 undergoes polyubiquitination in the presence of sufficient B and is then transported to the vacuole via multivesicular bodies (MVBs) to prevent B accumulation in tissues at a toxic level.

Atg9, the only transmembrane protein among many autophagy-related proteins, was first identified in the year 2000 in yeast. Two homologs of Atg9, ATG9A and ATG9B, have been found in mammals. While ATG9B shows a tissue-specific expression pattern, such as in the placenta and pituitary gland, ATG9A is ubiquitously expressed.

The germinal center response or reaction (GCR) is a hallmark event of adaptive humoral immunity. Unfolding in the B cell follicles of the secondary lymphoid organs, a GC culminates in the production of high-affinity antibody-secreting plasma cells along with memory B cells. By interacting with follicular dendritic cells (FDC) and T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, GC B cells exhibit complex spatiotemporal dynamics.

Many inherited retinal diseases target photoreceptors, which transduce light into a neural signal that is processed by the downstream visual system. As photoreceptors degenerate, physiological and morphological changes to retinal synapses and circuitry reduce sensitivity and increase noise, degrading visual signal fidelity. Here, we pharmacologically targeted the first synapse in the retina in an effort to reduce circuit noise without sacrificing visual sensitivity.
