The first and committed step in proline synthesis from glutamate is catalyzed by δ -pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase (P5CS). Two P5CS genes have been found in most angiosperms, one constitutively expressed to satisfy proline demand for protein synthesis, the other stress-induced. Despite the number of papers to investigate regulation at the transcriptional level, to date, the properties of the enzymes have been subjected to limited study. The isolation of Arabidopsis thaliana P5CS isoenzymes was achieved through heterologous expression and affinity purification. The two proteins were characterized with respect to kinetic and biochemical properties. AtP5CS2 showed K values in the micro- to millimolar range, and its activity was inhibited by NADP , ADP and proline, and by glutamine and arginine at high levels. Mg ions were required for activity, which was further stimulated by K and other cations. AtP5CS1 displayed positive cooperativity with glutamate and was almost insensitive to inhibition by proline. In the presence of physiological, nonsaturating concentrations of glutamate, proline was slightly stimulatory, and glutamine strongly increased the catalytic rate. Data suggest that the activity of AtP5CS isoenzymes is differentially regulated by a complex array of factors including the concentrations of proline, glutamate, glutamine, monovalent cations and pyridine dinucleotides.

Lock-in amplifiers (LIAs) are critical tools in precision measurement, particularly for applications involving weak signals obscured by noise. Advances in signal processing algorithms and hardware synthesis have enabled accurate signal extraction, even in extremely noisy environments, making LIAs indispensable in sensor applications for healthcare, industry, and other services. For instance, the electrical impedance measurement of the human body, organs, tissues, and cells, known as bioelectrical impedance, is commonly used in biomedical and healthcare applications because it is non-invasive and relatively inexpensive.

Frequency diversity array-multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar realizes an angle- and range-dependent system model by adopting a slight frequency offset between adjacent transmitter sensors, thereby enabling potential target localization. This paper presents FDA-MIMO radar-based rapid target localization via the reduction dimension root reconstructed multiple signal classification (RDRR-MUSIC) algorithm. Firstly, we reconstruct the two-dimensional (2D)-MUSIC spatial spectrum function using the reconstructed steering vector, which involves no coupling of direction of arrival (DOA) and range.

School of Electronic and Optical Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing 210094, China.

The swift advancement of contemporary communication technology, along with the development of radar systems, has raised the requirements for antenna systems. In this work, an integrated array antenna operating in the 24 GHz and 77 GHz frequency bands is proposed. The microstrip antenna array element uses a width reduction approach to reduce its volume by 39.

Sleep posture is a key factor in assessing sleep quality, especially for individuals with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), where the sleeping position directly affects breathing patterns: the side position alleviates symptoms, while the supine position exacerbates them. Accurate detection of sleep posture is essential in assessing and improving sleep quality. Automatic sleep posture detection systems, both wearable and non-wearable, have been developed to assess sleep quality.

Protein S-palmitoylation is the process by which a palmitoyl fatty acid is attached to a cysteine residue of a protein via a thioester bond. A range of methodologies are available for the detection of protein S-palmitoylation. In this study, two methods for the S-palmitoylation of different proteins were compared after metabolic labeling of cells with 15-hexadecynoic acid (15-YNE) to ascertain their relative usefulness.
